Michael "The Count" Bisping acknowledges Anderson for being the best.

"Anderson Silva is the greatest fighter that ever existed in MMA," said Bisping to TATAME. "He's the best fighter on the planet. He's the guy I want to face because he is the best and I want to challenge myself against the best."

anderson is pretty objectively the greatest.

he also wants to fight him. and boost the ratings for their fight if it happens.

This praise for a future/possible opponent is very common

every time I read interviews from MW's talking about anderson and they say things like "i want to challenge myself against the best", i feel that they have already mentally given up. Why not say im going to go in there and beat the man, not just challenge myself against him.

Might as well say you want to add yourself to his HL reel IMO.

Be realistic, then if you fluke it, you can celebrate.

Be that as it may, that was probably the smartest thing Bisping ever said. It's refreshing to hear him say something positive about his fellow fighters.

well that is understandable, I just feel that at least a shred of confidence going in against Andy would be more beneficial than just accepting defeat and just brushing it off as "challenging yourself"

oh I absolutely agree, i cant stand him myself, just saying it seems to be a trend (outside of Mr. Sonnen) to use that line in regards to a potential match-up with AS.

Fedor was the original consensus greatest. Now it's Anderson. I'm sure if Anderson eventually loses, it'll be Bones. When he loses, who knows. MMA fans are all about "what have ya done for me lately?"

The general concesus is that Anderson Silva is the P4P best fighter around at the moment, closely followed by GSP. The UFC are trying to get a "superfight" agreed between the two but I cant see this happening any in the near future. The main stumbling blcok for this fight will not be money but the weight the fight takes place at. I cant see GSP fighting at Middleweight even though he probably walks around at 190lbs. I think the big "superfight" should be better Anderson and Jones at LW; to me this makes most sense for both fighters.

This. Although only one of those guys didn't cut weight, and that's Fedor. If Anderson and Fedor met, Anderson might have won. But Fedor never cut weight and he certainly never danced around like a ballerina and hid behind the ref.

anderson has been saying that he wants to fight bisping for a while..

heard it in a couple of interviews...
Silva would dismantle him though..it would be entertaining.

But yeah that sounds like he has a mental block..
If you hear jones before jones vs rua he says something like "rua is a legend ...but he is a human" aka jones is confident.

way bisping is talking its like..."ill try but i might not succeed"

I'd rather Bisping just kiss Anderson and get it over with because it sure as hell doesn't sound like he wants to fight him.

Silva is the greatest at this time. Once he loses he will be called a can by sherdog posters

Translation: I have 0.0 chance of winning and I know it. People confident in their victory don't say "I just want to be in there with the best." Don't make this fight, unless you want to see Bisping standing there with his mouth agape and a non-competitive fight. Sad thing is some people actually DO want that...

Yeah, the same people who say he shouldn't fight Jones say he should fight Bisping because Bisping is a big name... Wow.
