Whether you root for GSP or not, he silenced critics and used a measured attack to outclass his opponent. Not only did he prove Diaz didn't belong in the fight, but he gave Nick and his fans exactly what they wanted. GSP spent almost half the bout on his feet, trading shots and testing his chin. As it turns out, Diaz was the one who didn't show up to "fight." After 3 rounds of domination, Nick showed zero urgency and a complete lack of heart. Instead, he resorted to walking around with his hands down, trash talking, and throwing cheap shots after the bell. Nick proved once again why he's a black eye on the sport of MMA and deserves minimal respect as a martial artist, and even less as a human being. GSP continues to be an honorable ambassador for our beloved sport and a serious threat to anyone (lookin at you Silva). Whether you like him or not, the champ earns respect. And if you're a Diaz fan, man up and admit your boy let you down big time.
Said it before and I'll say it again, Nick's been figured out. His run at the upper echelon was short-lived and sadly, damaged most by his incredibly confusing, short-sighted, hood mentality. So, I repeat this with pride... The good guy won tonight.

Calm down son, buying the zuffa hype too much. There wasn't a good guy and a bad guy.
We had two champions last night.

The better guy won but they both have character flaws, unless you believe everything from DW and GSP.

I said it in a forum earlier. But if GSP had half of Nick Diaz's heart he would be one of the most electric fighters in MMA.

But he doesn't and that's why I can't cheer for him.

And sure, he's a good guy and gracious if he wins. But he was a total excuse making dickhead when he lost to Serra. Class is easy on a winning streak.

Regardless GSP is the 2nd most dominant and talented fighter of the current era.

lol... you make it sound like gsp hurt soneone or almost finished a fight... 0 power shots, 0 sub attempts... thanks greg jackson for another step in turning mma into lay and pray

Methinks you have "heart" and "agression" confused.

Word. I thought GSP was keeping it standing to give the fans what they wanted, too, actually.

To me, "heart" means doing whatever you can to win, against all odds or circumstance. Never giving up and pushing yourself past the brink.

Diaz showed zero heart. He had 3 minutes to box and chose to keep his hands at his sides and stick his chin out. When frustrated, he copped out and took a cheap shot. And obviously down on the score cards, showed no more aggression than in the first round.

What's your definition of heart?

Nick was the one who wanted out of the fight by rd 4.

But he doesn't and that's why I can't cheer for him.

You are an idiot. lets recapitalize, when do you need heart? When put in disadvantegous situations. It happened twice for GSP:
- Serra I GSP took a barrage of shots b4 tapping out. His heart was there - his brain however to.
- When he got clocked by Condit ( one of the best in finishing a rocked fighter btw . ) he stayed composed got his feet back preasured Condit and won the round.

And sure, he's a good guy and gracious if he wins. But he was a total excuse making dickhead when he lost to Serra. Class is easy on a winning streak.

Bc he said he took the fight lightly and was ill prepared? That is not an excuse, that is called owning up.

Not about hype or accomplishments, just my personal standard for how martial artists should act. Especially when MMA's already defending its image.

And IMO, as people, I think they fit the description of good and bad pretty well.

No because he said "If it was Matt Hughes I would not have taken the fight, I said to myself Oh it's just Matt Serra".

lol at Nick being the bad guy. Some people just have to have a villain to hate.

Diaz is not the joker or penguin. He's a regular cat just like everyone else. GSP is a tremendous fighter and world class athlete. There is no question he is a credit to the sport and a great champion. In my eyes, his legacy is greater than Anderson Silvas.

That is not an excuse, that is called owning up. He took Serra lightly. He confessed that he had done so. He did take him serious. He smashed him.

Nick wins fights by throwing a mad volume of punches. I'm not sure why he didn't make an effort to throw down while the fight was standing...

It was very disrespectful and in line with the subject of the thread it neuters any talk of him being the polarised "good guy".

He did not silence any critics last night, he did exactly what everyone criticizes him for.

Also, I'm shaking my head at the whole "good guy, bad guy" thing. As if GSP fights injustice everywhere and Diaz eats children and enslaves nations.

The UFC painted them as The Good Guy and The Bad Guy, and you ate it up.

And IMO, as people, I think they fit the description of good and bad pretty well.

You don't know anything about either one of them other than what you've been sold.
