This is the GOATest Uber Map of how land is used in Murka

    https://www.bloomberg.com/graphics/2018-us-land-use/

It is so cool. It breaks it down, and has great illustration on what covers how much in relation to state boundaries, and our border

No wonder south is poor, its all forest. We have almost as much land dedicated to golf courses as airports. But how many people play golf that much?

Soybeans are grown in small area. Soybeans are topic of discussion because of Trump trade war. The chinese love soybeans (I would know), but they tariffing Murka soybeans. But the area over which we grow it is not overwhelming. Some other countries can pick up the slack.

Just some generalizations. Housing costs, or urban RE costs are always talked about just about everywhere. I do wonder about the rural RE costs though. With so much of the land used for farm related industries, it should be a hotter topic.

tofu is made from soybeans. You will have plenty of that now that the Chinese will buy less.

We could increase crop production, produce more food per acre, create less pollution. But sure tell your self that cattle farming is good for the world. Dur.

We arent giving away the cows for free. So people will still starve regardless. Plus foreigners should eat much less, and raise their own cattle.

Oh yes, I forgot people must eat beef, or they will surely die. Thank you very much for checking my pride.

What if beef consumption required one to raise, house and feed ones own lifestock? Same with Chickens? You didn't have to kill and butcher them yourselves, but you were required to provide for them up till slaughter.

Wonder how many people would still consume either beef or chicken?

It's not your place to say what others should, or shouldn't eat.

What you call a "waste" is another persons sustenance, or even livelihood.

I always find it fascinating when people want to in some way impose their personal dietary choices on everyone else.

    No problem at all.

I would even butcher my own animals meat. I already do when I go deer/pheasant hunting.

the amount of BLM land always surprises me

what's crazy is I live in the largest county in the contiguous US, yet it's almost entirely built up of Military bases, BLM land, various National Parks/Wilderness Areas/Natural Preserve/Widllife Areas

It's actually the other way around, the amount of resource it takes to grow meat is ginormous and it's a huge waste from a calorie perspective; if people were starving they wouldn't utilize most of their crops and most of their water to grow meat, what they'd get in return is a ridiculously tiny fraction of the calories they wasted on growing the meat and they would starve faster, if anything.

Easy there, welfare queen Brown. Farmers get to enjoy being subsided through food stamps all the time. Whats wrong with not polluting the world, and costing the tax payers less money?

they are the second most populous mammal after humans, and the heaviest by total biomass. Our appetites have terraformed the planet and caused irreperable harm to global biodiversity.
