First Trailer for THE GIRL ON THE TRAIN Starring Emily Blunt

Girl-on-the-Train-Emily-Blunt-042016-Dragonlord.jpg

The first trailer for The Girl on the Train starring Emily Blunt arrived online. The trailer, which first debuted at CinemaCon earlier this month, shows Blunt’s Rachel as she becomes swept up in a mystery involving her ex-husband (Justin Theroux)’s missing nanny.

Rachel is lonely, alcoholic divorcée, whose train passed her old home — where her ex-husband and his new wife live — every day. She begins to spy on a couple a few houses down, played by Luke Evans and Haley Bennett. Once a mysterious disappearance occurs, Rachel gets more and more involved with their lives.

The trailer was backed by a soundtrack of Kanye West’s “Heartless.” Laura Prepon, Rebecca Ferguson, Edgar Ramirez, Allison Janney and Lisa Kudrow also star. The Girl on the Train, adapted from Paula Hawkins’ best-seller and directed by Tate Taylor, hits theaters on Oct. 7.

This is the Gone Girl of 2016. Love me some mystery thriller. Stopped watching the trailer halfway, already sold on it and didn't want to be potentially spoiled.

The Gone Girl of 2016? Don't you play with my feelings like that.

I actually liked the book so I will definitely watch it, disappointed the film is set in New York and not London.

The trailer sucks btw.

Looks bad. Also they revealed quite a lot of what happens in the trailer?

Luff Emily Blunt me but that trailer doesn't look great.

Well, that's what I am hoping for. And I hope it's better than Gone Girl's underwhelming ending.

Me too. Gone Girl was so original, I loved it.
Are there other similarly good thrillers? I don't really watch that genre.

There are no similar recently released mystery thrillers like Gone Girl that is as good. You could try the more subdued Mr. Holmes. It stars Ian McKellen as an old Sherlock Holmes.

Green Room opens nationwide on April 29. It's one of the horror-thrillers to watch out for in 2016.

There's also The Invitation which is now available on VoD. It has a 92% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

And, of course The Witch.

Well I really liked Gone Girl so I guess I'll check this out for sure.

I have a friend who bought this book like a year ago and he hasn't made it past the first 10 pages. Not sure if that's a reflection on the book or on him.

In any case, the trailer looks interesting but not overwhelming. I can see the similarities to Gone Girl, though.

ditto. The lead character was kind of a worn out drunk no? not really fit the trailer..
