Pretty unmatched in quality and consistency, I agree. When you make eight movies and the worst is Rocky 5 (not that bad really) then you're onto something.

Respect for the four Rambos as well. Again, when Rambo 3 is the worst movie, you're on the right track.

Agree. I think Star Wars Episodes 3, 4, 5, and 6 are a contender though.

As @BisexualMMA said, the franchise as a whole is amazingly good. Rocky V is the only turd and many other franchises have worse entries than that one. Rocky, Rocky II, Rocky III, Rocky IV, Rocky Balboa, Creed and Creed II are all varying degrees of good to awesome.

Great character. Burt Young was born to play him and the first three movies especially gave him some material to really sink his teeth into.

If you want a drunk or a mafioso played right you call Burt Young.

Yeah but it's kind of cheating to tack Revenge of the Sith onto the original trilogy...

I love them all, but the tone definitely changes. I’ll never pass one up if I catch it on TV.

Agreed. Although 3 can be rather silly at times and 4 is flat out ridiculous at times.

I'm still not quite sure on where I stand with Creed 2 vs Rocky 5. I thought the Drago stuff in Creed 2 was fantastic, but Rocky himself kind of backslid as a character. I'd be more likely to quote several of his lines in Rocky 5 as wisdom before I think I'd repeat anything he said in Creed 2.

And Rocky 5 has a better soundtrack than Creed 2 or Rocky 6.

It's either that or you tack on TFA, which is a complete fucking turd.

I think 5 gets a lot more flak than it deserves.

Edit: You know, I voted yes, and I guess I stand by that, but as I think about it more... The only reason the first 4 gets it is because I can't think of a better one. As a quadrilogy, it has a pretty serious flaw - no real ending. That's what Rocky V did. At the end of Rocky IV it's just kind of left hanging. So yeah, I guess it's the best but only because isn't really any competition. Rocky I through IV is a flawed quadrilogy.

Damn, a kindred spirit. I know plenty of people who like it in real life but it's like it's cool to hate on it on the internet. I thought it really wrapped the five movie arc up - the cinderalla man returns home to his humble beginnings, logical end to his career, etc. Kind of a touching ending when all is said and done. Not the best in the series, and changed the tone of the series somewhat, but I actually enjoyed it quite a bit.

Well, you could argue tacking on Rogue One or Phantom Menace since it was made next. I mean, the logic that calls for Episode 3 seems to dictate Rogue One instead.
