The fighter to dethrone Jon Jones is probably not in the UFC yet.

Lets face it... To beat jones you need to be extremely athletic, fast, and have an amazing take down defense or offensive wrestling. There are a bunch of amazing LHW fighters in the UFC but........ none of them have the pure athletic ability that JJ has. The only fighter that has a shot is Cormier at the moment and I have my doubt about that as well. So......... What up and coming fighters has the credentials to beat Jones?

This may very well be true. He could always get caught, but that aside, I don't see him losing for a long time. I'm not sure if anyone could come along that could outwrestle him to a decision, so you'd need a guy with phenomenal standup who also had outstanding TDD. Essentially a better version of Machida.

Before King Mo's chin went to shit he had the best shot in the division imo, now I don't think anyone will dethrone him. He'll lose at heavyweight though.

TS I agree with you and have mentioned that opinion in another thread before. I don't think his better is in the UFC yet. Let's get him in though Dana....or maybe not...might be bad for business at the moment.

Jones isn't a tier-1 athlete as so many of you people actually believe he is. In fact, the guy can't even jump to save his life (can't even dunk a basketball at 6'4 with an over 80" wingspan lmao). Jones is also slower than Gustafsson (Glover said this recently as well, go figure). Alex Gustafsson is very athletic and when they fight he'll show you that Jones isn't some uber-athlete, not even close in reality. Watch and see, you heard it here first.

I doubt the entire Bellator LHW roster could beat Jones together in a handicap match

While both Gus and Davis have a somewhat decent chance to beat Jones in comparison to everyone else this is mostly correct. The next big thing is probably not a top LHW competitor but wither a MMA newbie or maybe even someone who's not in MMA yet.
