The fight bible. (filled with anything and everything you ever need to know)

Thank you for posting this thread! I'm a tall (184cm) but skinny submission specialist (68KG) kind of an Aoki type build, also have quite the same style. But when I trained Muay Thai I always had to spar with people much bigger and heavier then me, usually heavyweights.. As you may know Holland is known for it's high level strikers. so fighting with these big guys always was a war. I found it so unfair that I had to spar with these guys.

I'm 18 years old now so maybe it is because I still am growing but i'm eating my ass off and still not gaining weight. But as I read in your thread, getting thrown around by bigger guys in training really DOES make you better physically and mentally. Every time I now have to roll or stand up spar with a guy I feel like i'm completely dominating! But now I know it really is okay to spar with the big boys! Arigato! Oss!

This thread is always worth a bump,

Sooooo

BUMP.

awesome post, Josh! Thanks for sharing this - it's cool how many topics you covered. always interesting to hear honest insight from pros. great how you mentioned trying to always be a better person. martial arts are the best!

jabs into tkdns dont work anymore, try a mayweather special- right hand into clinch, or straight to the hips, which fedor used

Really Great tread I'm training about 3 mths and going to do my first K1 fight a little excited a little nervous but I want to fight MMA and I'm not young so need to move on it 35 this yr any advice for me before my fight I'd greatly appreciate it

Thank you Josh!

Good reading, good tips. Best regards from Germany!

What's your record man? Sherdog has you down as only fighting once and mixedmartialarts.com has you down as a 4 fight veteran, but you know your stuff so that can't be right. I assume you've fought in non sanctioned bouts?

Cheers for the article!

Im kind of relatively new to mma and have been mixing up the arts for a while now training for about 4 months. The other day i came 3rd place in a bjj competition for 16-17 juniors in no-gi. I am very serious and want to become the best mma fighter i can possibly be. Dedication, commitment? Not a problem. I do want to make it to ufc level and train over in america eventually. Can you experienced fighters advise me on a training plan.

This is my timetable for my gym. I have done all the classes but i dont know how much i should train in each discipline. Cheers

the fight bible what a fucking joke I know im late on this and I admit ive never heard of this guy godam this is some shit

What's your best advice for working on these combos when you don't have a partner? When I go to the gym the best thing I can do is shadow box because my gym doesn't have a bob or any type of focus mitts. What are your suggestions for solo training?

Hi, i know this is quite a while ago for you...mmm....5 years, but i broke my ankle 2 months ago, started standing 2 days ago. I can walk a few steps but im worried about skiprope jumping etc. Any tipps for the recovery and first time back in trainkng? Would be much appreciated

I would say do the cut to 155, if you can without being to drained, 170-155 isn't a bad cut at all unless your already a pretty drawn out 170.

You want to fight in the lightest weightclass possible. by the sounds of it, you would be a big 155 with a huge reach advantage.

I don't know what you look like so I have no idea.

I thought I answered your question in the other thread, I must have missed it. Sorry
Great post! Sadly, too few people in combat sports are like you... You're a great example for what fighters should be like in terms of personality.
A question about weight cuts:
I'm an amateur fighter, had only two fights so far. I've never cut weight (dehydrated) and have no idea what it's like. I'm 184 cm tall and about 81 kg walking around, I've been able to drop to 76 and 78 respectively (about 170 lbs), through dieting, for my previous fights. If I were to go pro in the future, I suspect I'd have to cut to 70 kg (155 lbs). My question is, does dehydration cause mental or physical fatigue? I'm hearing about fighters like Gunnar Nelson who never cut weight and still perform great (except Gunnar got muscle around and dominated by a much bigger Demian Maia...). On the other hand, fighters like McGregor and GSP have great success as they cut tremendous amounts of weight and are bigger than most other people in their weight class...
Your opinion?
