Sweden says no to increase of EU fee.

Billions are at stake when Sweden negotiates the new EU fee. The European Commission believes that Sweden pays too little, compared to the size of our economy. This is despite the fact that every Swede pays significantly more in EU fees, than an average EU citizen does.

Now in September, negotiations on the EU's next budget, which will apply from 2021, are starting to get serious. The European Commission wants Sweden to pay more than the approximately 41 billion we paid last year to the EU.

EU Commission's calculator shows that Sweden pays a tenth less of the country's economy - measured in GNP - compared to the average of the EU countries.

However, if one chooses to pay the EU tax per inhabitant in Sweden, it will end up at approximately SEK 4000 per person. That is about SEK 1100 more than the average EU citizen pays.

- We do not think the Commission is right when they claim that we will pay up to 40 percent more. This needs to be redone, EU Minister Hans Dahlgren (S) tells SVT.

The fact that Sweden pays relatively much per person is because we are a country with few inhabitants - but with a strong economy. In addition, the Commission wants Sweden to pay more to cover the hole after Great Britain. But even if there is no so-called Brexit, more money is needed, the Commission claims.

Why should Sweden pay more?

- One reason is that the UK and their contribution to the budget will disappear. We must compensate for this by paying others a little more. The world is also becoming more complicated and we need more money for migration, climate, security and so on.

Does Sweden have the opportunity to say no to increased fees?

- It's a negotiation, but Sweden is likely to pay more than you do today, but how much more is unclear. Sweden has pushed the issue that countries that do not receive refugees should be punished with reduced EU subsidies. The European Commission has turned to this argument and instead wants countries that receive migrants to be rewarded with extra EU contributions. The effect is thus similar.

Today at work we had visit from one who has worked with the UN for a few years and I was not aware that Sweden together with 4 other countries (Norway, Denmark and UK) are the only countries in the UN to reach the 0.7% UN aid spending target. The big discussion was Russia, which is a member of the Security Council, but is a nation that hardly pays anything. Comparing to the USA that pays 20 times more. All this talk about countries that do not take responsibility got me thinking about why such a small country like Sweden should always keep words and follow the rules when the rest do not? The same thing we do in this bad deal that is the EU. We are pushed and at some point we will explode.

I am hereby officially a supporter of the growing crowd who want a referendum on Sweden's future in the EU.

EU leftism will be its downfall unfortunately.

I don't think the idea of EU in general is bad. The problem is that it takes way too much intrusion into people daily life. Telling us what to eat, drink, watch, think and say.

Another problem is empathy to 3rd world countries and inviting them over with a promise of free benefits and housing. Every single foreign aid send from EU must be stopped with immediate effect for the countries who mass produce children and have no means to give them decent living because that encourages them to produce even more children. If country is struck by natural disaster, flooding, fire, draught then foreign aid just to meet basic needs is more than welcome.

Leftist bastards in general are downfall for this world.

I want to remind you that the farther you go to the left, the more they hate the EU. The Left(V, former Communist Party) is a strong opponent of the EU. So your logic on the left doesn't quite match.

Same with the further you go right. Extremes of both sides usually end up meeting but in general the left supports it significantly more.

It was mostly a reaction to how people categorize everyone who is left from the same mold. And you are right about extreme left and right. We have 2 anti EU parties and they are the extreme left (V) and the extreme nationalist right (SD).

There will be massive amounts of death by thirst and starvation one of these days. The reset will come eventually with these types of policies.

William James said you can often learn the most about a thing, like an ideology, from its most extreme cases. What we find is that the extremes merge into one. And a river runs through it.

<Lmaoo>

“Eventually, all things merge into one, and a river runs through it. The river was cut by the world's great flood and runs over rocks from the basement of time. On some of the rocks are timeless raindrops. Under the rocks are the words, and some of the words are theirs.
I am haunted by waters.”

You're funding the importation of people whose lives you then have to keep funding...

You can't put a price on freedom mate.

This was about the amount of money being paid so it would be pretty dumb to try to solve that problem by doing something that would hurt Sweden's economy far more.

As for freedom, the US is a much more controlling entity over the states than the EU is over it's countries. I'd say that shows that you can set a price on freedom, and I'd say that you can set a price on anything.

So, we’ve reached the “ran out of other people’s money” stage.

Nice...

Good on Sweden.

There will be massive amounts of death by thirst and starvation one of these days. The reset will come eventually with these types of policies.
The planet is 90% water.. we can just take the salt out.
We're about to start using DNA like programming languages.. starvation isn't going to happen.

You're applying a 20th century mindset to mid to late 21st century problems. So closed minded.

Climate issues aren't going to be the problems of the 21st century.

We're not even going to be human anymore at the end of the century and food+water+climate don't matter to robots.

The problem with the EU is not having a single taxation and currency system. Doomed to failure as long as you try and house all the different currencies and taxation systems, too difficult to balance.
