From the look of the list it will be GSP.

They put 1 MMA guy for a reason because all the MMA fans will vote for him and his votes will out number the splits from the boxers. That is just my personal opinion cause Anderson Silva got snubbed.

If they put like 2 or 3 MMA guys on there to mix it up a Boxer would win but by putting only 1 MMA guy seems they want the MMA guy to get the nod because they def snubbed Silva.

I do not know why Floyd jr is there.

I personally am picking Kelly Pavlik

Yeah Anderson Silva defiantly deserved to be on there. I did vote for GSP because he is my favorite welterweight fighter and I'm not too big of a boxing fan.

lol Floyd had 0 fights this year, or was it for last year?

Last year the nominees were Pac, Cotto, PBF, Couture, and Rampage and Floyd walked away the winner, so I don't know if there being less MMA guys will really affect the final tally too much.

For all the venom he receives Floyd obviously has the respect or name cache from the casual ESPY voting types, which I think is helpful to remember before accepting peoples claims that "everyone in the megaverse hates PBF" and "everyone knows he ducked EVERYONE."

Mayweather hasnt fought in 2008. Why would he get fighter of the year...in 2008?

Since the Hatton fight occurred between the last ESPYs and now I imagine they count that, I remember debating the 2007 Best Fighter ESPY and people included the Baldy fight on Floyd's resume even though that was late '06.

Gotcha. Strange way of doing things...you would think they would do it right after the end of a year. Like...January

ESPN thinks it runs the sporting world.

unfortunately...they kind do.

I think this is the first ESPYs conspiracy theory i have ever heard. If they wanted anyone to win it I would think it would be Floyd since he has the most start power off that list. Why would they want GSP to win?

Yeah. Still seems ass-backwards

I think they position it at around this time of year since there's not a ton going on elsewhere in the sporting world outside baseball. That way they have plenty of time on SportsCentre to pump it up, and also that way they can ensure the athletes who win can attend the event.

*grumbles*

I guess that makes sense.

they want an MMA fighter to win

because all the MMA fans will vote for gsp since he is the only mma fighter.

The majority of MMA fans hang around on the net and the votes are cast online.

last year they put up 2 mma guys and the votes were split so they realize now if they put only 1 mma guy he will most def win.

The boxing fans will vote for who they like while the MMA fans will vote for The MMA guy regardless if they like him.

Why would they want an MMA fighter to win? Are you wearing your tin foil helmet at the moment?

St-Pierre won't win. If anything, Anderson Silva should've been nominated ahead of Georges. For me it's between Calzaghe and Pavlik. But most likely the casual fans will vote for PBF. Thus making him the winner, unfortunately.

Alot of NFL, NBA, MLB fans will be voting and just like last year PBF may win. In this voting you HAVE to put down a vote for every topic. MMA fans are a fraction of the sporting world.

I think GSP's chances of winning are higher than Randy's and jacksons were last year but I see PBF taking it. I can just picture casual sports fans picking him because they recognize him.
