The entertainment factor is at an all time low

The UFC needs to ban grappling/wrestling and become a striking only combat organisation

Casuals only find striking entertaining
Shock collars that activate when a wrestler attempts a takedown! If they can tolerate the pain they're allowed to continue wrestling. However after each take down the voltage increases.

We have Belal, Merab, and also Valentina as fucking champions rn. We also have gotten to a point where fight night cards are literally becoming so trash that they're skippable. This is such a worse product then it was like a year ago. Idk what's going on. This is sickening. I'm disgusted and am ashamed in what this has become. Shit's dying fr.

If you've been following UFC as long as I have, you would already have noticed with the ever increasing frequency of UFC events, the cards are very very watered down. I remember people back then were praising that UFC were different from boxing where it was extremely top heavy, the main event is really the only draw and the rest of the card was full of nobodies. UFC has been heading that way for a while so don't hold your breath it would change any time soon.

Its true, but to be fair, when you run like 10 events a year with a roster of like 30 people its easy for things to feel "stacked" because you're seeing the same few faces on practically every card. Likewise when you put out 40+ cards a year over shit tons of weight classes and have a roster of like 700 people the majority of them will become "nobodies" because its impossible for a fan to keep track of everybody. It doesnt necessarily say anything about the actual quality of the fighters today compared to back then.

Except that a lot of fighters were winning the exact same grapple-heavy way and people were complaining about it then just as much.
There’s always been complaints about lay n pray like Fitch but the quality of cards were better

UFC doesn't invest. They don't pay and bid for top talent that are free agents. They spam cards with random sub 155 fighters male and female. Just care about broadcasting rights. PPVs numbers don't even get published. Just broadcasting. So they don't put on the best fights anymore.
This is true but also a bit of a different issue in my opinion. Yes the UFC waters down and puts out volume, but also, right now we just are at a time when we have dominant grapplers that many will consider boring. I doubt the UFC is thrilled about it but it happens. Felt like for a while the lnp type fighters werent able to capture titles. At the end of the day it comes down to individual fighters and matchups. Omalley and Izzy both looked bad grappling wise as a huge hole.

They need to change up the rules. Allow knees to a grounded opponent. Wrestling control without damage shouldn't score etc

Why they haven't implemented the former especially is glaring. One quick and easy fix that could come in without any rule changes is to simply incentivize finishes to a much higher degree; double the bonuses.

ONE FC has several KO bonuses handed out which are disproportionate to fighter pay. This in part leads to a massively higher finish rate than the UFC enjoys, which is pathetically low.

TS simply does not appreciate true power and discipline. Hmph. Not surprising considering he doesn't even watch the sport of #PowerSlap. Pathetic.

Cry about it

Monday night Raw is soon. Go watch that.

The sad thing is I'm getting burnt out on wrestling. It's like my love for it just died a sudden death.

As long as Cody finished his story, thats all that really matters. That, and the friends we made along the way.

To me, undercard fights should be exciting for those guys to build their name and career, and the main card it is OK if the fights aren't amazing if they have high stakes.

Boring fights become more exciting when there are stakes involved, e.g. contender status or title fight.

If that Merab-Omalley main event was on the undercard between 2 no namers, it'd be a snoozefest.. but where it was, it was just fine IMO.

Most cards are not woth watching live these days. At least MW is as good as ever and we have an active Pereira as champ.

Pretty obvious that the ufc isn’t as good as it used to be it peaked around 2006-2012 man i miss those days

Yep. Some of the prelims on those cards would be main event worthy by todays standards.

Had Sean ( I wanted him to win) not failed to be victorious you would have probably not made this thread.

If they give the shot the Ankalaev you can add that one to your list soon enough.

Fun and entertainment?! Go watch the circus. MMA is about intellectualism, parasocial relationships, contrarianism, and trolling people who disagree with you!
Your boy got humiliated so bad he isn't fighting for a year.

Go cry yourself to sleep gimp

that’s why we should all be pushing for figueredo to get a title shot, and yan vs umar.
