The early weigh ins are great for fighters, but horrible for fans.

Although, we know it was aweful for fighters, the weigh ins were great for fans. Live, it's exciting to see who makes weight, who doesn't, if so, how far are they off, what do they look like while cutting weight, does it look like a hard cut, what mood are they in while cutting? It added to the fight drama.

Thank god it's only implemented by CSAC for now or is it permanent now?

I don't watch weigh-ins anyway unless there are known extravagant individuals (in which case I'll watch highlights). Most of the time it's just a formal procedure. So I'm all for fighters' comfort = early weigh-ins.

I don't watch weigh-ins unless its WMMA fighters with hot booty

So you didn't enjoy 199 then??

Maybe a coincidence, but I'd say it's pretty damn good for fans of future events are even half as good as 199 !!

If you wanna watch dehydrated guys pose in their underwear, go to a bodybuilding contest.

What he said. We just had one hell of a card, my favorite ever, so I'm not going to complain. You still get to see what shape the fighters are in. I don't care that they already weighed in. The fighters all seemed to love it.

Here come the homphobes.

Weigh ins often have shenanigans going on and at times you can tell a fighters mindset.

Always a spectacle and some nice wmma booty on show.

You get your "entertainment" back when fighters are able to replenish more lost fluids and can put on more entertaining fights.

MMA is about the fights... if the fighters are given more time for their bodies to hydrate and recuperate by fight time than they'll likely be able to perform better and closer to their optimum level; which is what the fans would ultimately want. Everybody wins.

If you're more interested in seeing dehydrated, semi-nude people pose on a stage, than you can get that from watching bodybuilding competitions.

I agree .199 weigh in was shit. It didn't have that feel to it. I like it when there fighters are all dehydrated and crazy . It was more intense .

Who asked you flem wad?
The weigh ins are better when the guys are half dead .end of discussion.
There's more than just a fight. It's the whole package, the lead up, the anticipation

All the promotion ahead of the fight (commercials, interviews, shows, press conferences) already fulfills that emotional appeal to an excessive extent, by the time of the weigh-ins, the fighters likely are not in the mood and don't have the energy to put into further promotional obligations, and what they do can come off as contrived.

The weigh-ins are still publicly broadcast; the staredowns, semi-nude bodies, and the drama is still there... if you're arguing just over the fact that their bodies aren't dehydrated, then again, bodybuilding competitions is what you're looking for.

I'm saying that I like intense weigh ins . Due partly to the fact that they are dehydrated and have been through hell makes them more amped up
The bodies are irrelevant .

Do you see what I mean ?

This has no bearing on the fight but it is an aspect .

Giving them a window to make weight instead of an exact time, and making it earlier before the fight is GREAT. Just great.

Giving doctors the power to pull someone more than 24 hours in advance when they are ready and able to fight is not great.

TS is right that it takes a lot of the relevance out of the promotional weigh-in. I think it's a good trade-off though for the fighters being more comfortable and probably performing better as a result. I don't like the possibility that fights that should happen could be called off though. I thought the status quo was more than adequate protection for the fighters without being overly paternalistic.

Sadist much?

I watch weigh in shows as a preflight show. I assume everyone should make weight.
But
As a better, I like seeing how drained guys are, but I think it's still better to see them at the fake weigh ins.

Good point the fighters fought differently. More.. Ready to bang I'd say.

I don't care about the weigh-ins either way I could care less about them standing on a scale, I just like to see the staredown anyway.
