Matt Brown is a superstar. He showed everything people love to support in a person. He showed fortitude, he showed determination, heart, will, courage, humility...

He's the true underdog story. Matt Brown isn't supposed to beat these elite fighters. He's not as athletic as them. He's not as naturally talented. He doesn't have the 'look' of a fighter. He doesn't have the college credentials.

They call him 'The Immortal' because he survived a heroin overdose. He turned to martial arts as a way to discipline his mind. Martial arts saved his life.

Today, he showed us no matter who you are or where you're from, what mistakes you've made or how many obstacles are in your way... he showed us that willpower and determination will take an honest hardworking man all the way to the top.

I was inspired by Matt Brown's performance. His warrior spirit illuminated the entire arena. Everyone who did not bet on Silva and isn't a pretend-mma fan "because it's cool", became a bigger fan of MMA after that fight.

'The Immortal' no longer attributes the OD survivor that is Matt Brown. Whatever happens henceforth, after that fight against Erick Silva- Matt Brown has truly immortalized his name in the books of history as an elite MMA fighter.

Matt Brown's dynasty has just begun. Whether you love him or you're busy criticizing him, notice that half the topics on sherdog today in the UFC sec is about Matt Brown. Every mma community is buzzing over this fight.

That fight had an impact on you whether you're too cool or too ignorant to admit it...

Matt Brown is The Immortal.

I agree actually, if he lacks any technique he pretty much makes up for it in sheer willpower and finishing instinct.

Wish more fighters fought like him.

WAR Immortal

surviving an OD and coming back to be a top contender in the UFC must give you some insane mental fortitude. you can see it in the way he fights, he has that confidence like he can achieve anything.

congrats to matt brown

I like Brown, good fighter, very entertaining, great win streak going but he still hasn't defeated a top 10 fighter.

Amazing fighter, don't see him beating the top 5 but the road to there will be a fun one to watch

I was rooting for him and basically thought he was done when he went down from the body kick. Incredible mental toughness and heart to push through it and dominate the rest of the fight.

Even heroin couldn't put Matt Brown away, and heroin is one of the P4P one-hitter-quitter GOATs in the drug world

Having come from a family of drug addicts, I admire anyone who can rise from the ashes of drug addiction to become clean and make something of themselves. Matt Brown not only did that but also became a combat sport athlete in the biggest stage in the world for MMA and is doing so with success.

Fuck the haters, and kudos to this man. If you don't know what drug addiction is like and what it can do to your life, shut the fuck up and do not speak on this man's character.

This band wagon is going too fast for me to jump aboard.

He is tough as nails and impressed the hell out of me. I honestly thought he was done in the 1st rd after that 2nd body kick by Silva.

I'm out at brunch with your mother right now

That would be a catch for my mom since she's old and you're probably young and not disabled. Well not physically at least. hah

Should have taken my fianc

I wonder if UFC will keep him fighting the guys in the 10 to 15 range due to his losses, build that win loss ratio back before letting him fight a contender

Next up, Ryan LaFlare?

Been a Brown fan since he KO'd that sandbagger guy on TUF, although I didn't have very high hopes for his future.

His win over Sell made me pay serious attention. I have followed him a lot more closely since that and always rooted for him.

Last night was something special though. Silva deserves a pat on the back too, but Brown was positively inspiring.
