That's not the point. If you offer a fair deal in front of the world and they refuse, the world will not view you as the asshole that deserves the natural result of what occured due to you being a dealbreaker.

But big picture conservatives generally want to keep Venezuela down because it has become a talking point. They can point to it and say "See what the corruption and mismanagement of socialism does? You want to end up like them? Vote for Bernie." (which is somewhat true in that their production and export collapse stared long before sanctions and embargos).

So republicans love to see them suffer. Russia loves to see them suffer as they can essentially extort them for cheap oil. Saudis love to see them suffer as it takes barrels of heavy oil off the market, etc, etc. Still some headwinds here...
