The Cheap Shot and The Cheap Win

Did you lose respect for Diego Sanchez (DQ win)?

I'll say no, only because it's a vet like Diego Sanchez who's given everything to this sport already. Hopefully this is his last fight.

Are we really blaming Diego? Wtf, Perrera was on his was to finishing him brutally and goes and does this? Diego took a nasty knee to the forehead that busted him open. So we know it was brutal, we know it was illegal, and we know it did lots of damage. Rules are rules.

It was the smart move to collect the money, but it was also a major bitch move. He could have continued. We have seen him fight through much worse. It was barely illegal. He had one knee up and was just barely on the side of his shin, almost up. This should not have been a dq. The fact that he asked what would happen proves he bitched out. Diego has always been a warrior, but not this time. He got his ass handed to him the entire fight. To collect a win like this seriously harms his legacy as a warrior. In a situation like this where the knee was close to legal and was an accident, I with a minute or so to go-deduct a point And judge the fight. Pereira impressed me Diego did not

I actually think most fighters continue after an illegal blow because of how they would be judged. In reality the majority of them are probably not 100÷ but just want to act 'tuf'

Diego Sanchez Decision Leads to Stunning Upset Comeback Win While Down 2-0 in Third Round

Fans See Blood; Sanchez Sees Win

Diego Sanchez def. Michel Pereira DQ (illegal knee) 3 3:09

What The Hell Just Happened?

Sanchez is stalking “Demolidor” down, but Pereira throws several crushing knees that make Sanchez fall over.

As Sanchez falls to his knees, Pereira cracks him in the head with an illegal knee.

Herzog rushes in to stop the action for a moment. The knee busted Sanchez’ head wide open. Blood is pouring out of Sanchez’ forehead, and the doctor is trying to figure out what to do. Herzog allows Sanchez to recover, and deducts one point from Pereira, but Sanchez claims that he cannot see.

Sanchez asks Herzog what the result would be given on the stoppage, and upon learning it would be a disqualification, Sanchez says he cannot continue.

Unbelievable. As it was an illegal knee that caused the stoppage, Pereira will indeed be disqualified. This is the first event in UFC history where multiple fights have ended by DQ. Truly a bizarre end to a totally bizarre fight.

This is what 15 years in the game teaches you.. take the cheap W and live to fight another day. Diego knows full well there was no winning that and no way do I blame him: pereira should have not thrown that illegal knee.

Lion heart should be taking notes. Cheap shot = cheap loss for cheaters

Everybody was saying that Anthony Smith would have been a b!tch for taking a DQ win against Jones. But now people are saying it was good for Diego Sanchez to take a DQ win against Pereira.

Got his win bonus in probably his last fight ever.

Play on playa
Given that it's highly doubtful Sanchez is a financially responsible individual, this stain on his career will likely outlast the money.

1 leg up isnt illegal...

Ufc and their bush league rules anyways.

No, he got hit full blast with an illegal knee. Don't want to get DQed don't break the rules. Honestly there should be way more DQs then there are, too many fighters are constantly breaking the rules with no repercussions.

Lol old guard? Buddy that's like arlovski. Not Diego
Diego was TUF 1 I believe that qualifies him for “old guard”

Yes Arlovski has been around longer but Jesus.

With gas changing illegal hits.

Ridiculous anyone is blaming Diego here. So since he didn't get knocked out, he should just eat a free HARD shot to the head that also busted him open?

Yeah that's bullshit.

all you worthless fools just STFU. your opinions on anything don't matter. Diego doesn't give a shit if you've lost respect for him or not. carry on yapping between yourselves like your opinions are worth something but they're not

it was also a major bitch move.

This reads like a meme about dorks in their moms basement.

Adults don't give a shit about you attributing them a warrior legacy. He's an old athlete on the brink of retirement who all but certainly has brain damage.

These guys fight for peanuts to make billionaires richer. When the UFC decides they are done with Diego, they are going wring him like a wet rag and toss him in the bin. His only responsibility is to his own health and his family. Only a moron in his position would take a blatantly illegal knee to the skull - that split his head open - and go home with half a pay check.

He's already underpaid and has been for years.

Some of you guys don't live in the real world.
