THE BOYS Spinoff in the Works at Amazon Following Massive Season 2 Launch

The Boys could soon be getting a spinoff. Variety has learned that Amazon is fast-tracking development on a new iteration of the popular comic book series adaptation.

The spinoff is set at America’s only college exclusively for young adult superheroes (or “supes”) that is run by Vought International. It is described as an irreverent, R-rated series that explores the lives of hormonal, competitive supes as they put their physical, sexual, and moral boundaries to the test, competing for the best contracts in the best cities. Part college show, part Hunger Games — with all the heart, satire and raunch of The Boys.

The news comes just under three weeks after the premiere of Season 2 of the series, which is based on The New York Times best-selling comic of the same name by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson. The second season is airing weekly, while the first dropped all at once, with the finale set to air Oct. 9. According to Amazon, the second season had the most-watched global launch of an Amazon original series ever, with the episodes to date having grown the audience from Season 1 by 89%. It was renewed for a third season ahead of the Season 2 premiere while also adding an aftershow hosted by Aisha Tyler.

Craig Rosenberg is writing the pilot and will serve as showrunner and executive producer under his overall deal with Sony Pictures Television, with Rosenberg currently serving as writer and executive producer on the original series. The Boys creator Eric Kripke will also executive produce along with The Boys executive producer Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, and James Weaver of Point Grey Pictures. Original Film’s Neal H. Moritz and Pavun Shetty, who also executive produce The Boys, are also executive producers on the spinoff. Amazon Studios and Sony Pictures Television will produce.

Really good episode, lots of action, moved the story forward, built up new and existing characters and had awesome memorable scenes

Best episode of the season

really enjoyed the dynamic of homelander in his first relationship and not being used to having to wait or not being in full control

I'm just confused what stormfront was doing in the shadows from the 70s to present, when she was close to vought and wants to fulfill his visions

Really enjoy The Boys but that synopsis sounds really off-putting to me, sounds like a distillation of the edgelord parts of the show (my least favorite)

Hope it changes in development

Best episode of the season so far. Much needed considering....

the last one was total filler.

Not sold on the actor playing lamplighter. Kind of weird they got the guy who played Iceman in the X-Men movies. Maybe they are being ironic. His acting seemed stiff or too forced.

I wanna bone Maeve's girlfirend lol.

Finally somethings happening. Though this season the characters really have taken a moral dump.
Theyre all such unbeliveable as5holes and pieces of sh+t. They beg the security guard for help cause a patient is choking and he leaves his post to help and they execute him no questions asked. Cant you shoot him in the knees or sth? Or Brighteyes kills the hyundai driver (wasnt he in some show playing a dumbas5 cop? ) who has a kid's seat and declares how she doesnt care. You could argue Hughie has some morals left but even he puts the goal first mostly and never mind hes one of the most annoying characters on tv.
Stormfront and Highlander parts are the best and they at least are written straight bad.

BEST episode (#6) of this season! This episode was so fulfilling (and not just because of Love Sausage).

So many things that went down. Every major character in this episode had their own interesting storyline. Hope this quality storytelling continues for the rest of the season.

I think the season is building up to what will be a really good last few episodes.

Anyone else think immediately of the original Xmen movies this episode. They cast the guy whom played the iceman and they gave him that lighter and the power to manipulate fire the same way his rival in the Xmen movies had.

This episode was better, but they need to cut back on the emo stuff. The dialogue near the end was getting cheesy, particularly with Lamplighter and Mallory. We've seen that scenario dozens of times. I know they had to change some things from the book for the show, but they've changed some characters too much and now everyone just cries every episode. Needs more humor and being over the top without being apologetic.

I think that's kind of the point; battle not with monsters, lest you become a monster. A major part of the show's theme seems to be that humans without any powers can be just as vile as Supes. The difference between them isn't morality, just the level of damage they can cause.

You could argue the security guard had it coming because he knew people were being experimented on, and murdered if the experiments didn't work out. But Annie whacking the driver was cold. I mean they had to kill him off, because if he survived he would have told police what had happened and Vought would know Annie had gone rogue. But her apparent lack of remorse was surprising, since she has been portrayed until now as a genuinely moral person who tries to do the right thing.
