    From either film or tv.

One of the best aliens for me was in Doctor Who, the Children of the Earth episodes. We never get to see the alien very clearly as it is always surrounded by a gaseous atmosphere.

Spaceship design from the original Star Wars is fantastic. Conversion of World War 2 imagery and metaphors into believable futuristic spaceships.

Jabba the Hutt was a great creation as well. It was an amazing feat of art and puppetry to achieve at that time. Same with James Cameron's alien queen.

And obviously Giger's original design of the xenomorph and space jockey were works of artistic genius. No Ridley, it wasn't a guy in a suit.

    The Borg.

Best spaceships - their shit was literally invulnerable. Best you could do was disable them for a bit and run.

Greatest? Every culture they ran into they assimilated their best leaders, fighters, strategists. It was like old school Romans fighting an enemy, learning how they made war and then doing it better, then using that know how on the next enemy. You had civilizations able to go ten times faster than the speed of light on the ropes against one of their cubes.

Described as three legged, covered in velvet soft skin, with two long flexible necks protruding, each with a single large eye and mouth.
They join at the body next to a hump that encases a brain equal to ours. They're able to speak through both mouths independently.

They're a creation of Larry Niven.
They're everything an alien should be: alien. Not bipedal. Altogether different.

Obviously the best aliens were the Xenos.

As far as ships go Star Wars had the best. I have to give one positive compliment to the prequels...the ships were bad ass. The royal ship in Phantom Menace was like the Bugatti of ships.

For aliens I'm going for the weird creature in Andrzej Zulawski's unforgettable Possession. This is probably the most intense film I've ever seen. If you haven't seen it, it's got an incredible performance from the great Isabelle Adjani

I loved the Galactica ship designs. Battlestars were awesome dreadnoughts, and the Vipers and Raiders were very cool.

He asked who the greatest aliens were, not which aliens you wish existed so you could fuck the entire race into a stupor, not even minding that you gave yourself space AIDS because the azure was so fire and died a happy man with hundreds of blue children.

    ....or something like that.
