This has been the best month of mma for since I became a fan in July 2015.
TJ Dillashaw decisively beats Cody no dad, quashing his rivalry with team beta male, and becoming a top 3 p4p fighter. I met the guy in person and see him as a role model

Plus I made my first bet in mma. James Krause at +350 was insane to me and I bet $150 on him. My parents are visiting me and I am doing great! Boom!

    Aww, that's so cute.

You are still in the honeymoon phase and probably haven't even seen one your favorite fighters get crushed, repeatedly KOed and fed to the next generation.

The statements made before and after this lead me to believe that it is completely false as you are obviously a few years to young to go to a sports book

Pretty sure squashed is also correct (least in the south east of USA), I've personally never heard quashed until today.

So apparently this is a word that has at least some history being used that way, but it began as quash. Also, and no offense, but hearing it in the South East of the USA does not lend any credibility to the cause. Besides, usage does not mean it is being used correctly. Listen to how many people say "could care less" when that is so obviously incorrect. Or the particularly American "where are you at?" Why add at? It is already contained in "where are you?" What does "at" add? It just sounds ignorant and sloppy.

I merely added my region to establish that, atleast with my surroundings, it is used in my manner and could be different for others. And overtime usage can in fact change the meanings or add another meaning to the word or words. I.e. Flex is bending a limb or joint, but with rap culture it also has the meaning of showing off. Break a leg is slang for good luck instead of wishing harm, squash is food, or basically a synonymous word with crush.

So in this context, when TJ beat Cody, he "crushed" the rivalry.

    http://grammarist.com/usage/quash-squash/

As a verb, squash means to beat, squeeze, press, or crush something into a flattened mass. As a noun it denotes the family of tendril-bearing plants with leathery rinds and edible fruit, while squash is also racket game played in a closed-walled court with a rubber ball.

Quash means (1) to set aside or annul by judicial action, and (2) to suppress forcibly and completely. When squash is used figuratively, its meaning can come very close to quash in the second sense.
