So many villains in one movie, seems a bit overkill.

Peter Sarsgaard Joins Matt Reeves' THE BATMAN Possibly Playing Two-Face

Gb7rwtW.jpg

Peter Sarsgaard is headed to Gotham City. The actor is joining The Batman, with filmmaker Matt Reeves sharing a photo of the actor Friday on Twitter, where he has been confirming other castings. Sources speculate Sarsgaard could be playing a corrupt cop named Wasserman or a district attorney. If he is indeed playing a district attorney, Sarsgaard's character would be one familiar to comic book fans: Harvey Dent, the D.A. who becomes the villain Two-Face.

The Batman stars Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as playing Riddler, Colin Farrell as the Penguin and John Turturro as crime boss Carmine Falcone. Jeffrey Wright will play Batman ally Commissioner Gordon, while Andy Serkis is appearing as his trusted butler, Alfred.

Sarsgaard came to prominence with 1999's Boys Don't Cry, and earned a Golden Globe nomination for 2003's Shattered Glass. He previously delved into the superhero genre with 2011's Green Lantern, and recently starred in Hulu's The Looming Tower.

The actor even has a Two-Face connection already. He is married to Maggie Gyllenhaal, who starred in Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight as assistant district attorney Rachel Dawes, who had a romantic relationship with Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart). Astute fans have noticed that she shared a photo of Sarsgaard on Instagram this week with a potential Two-Face tease. She captioned the photo, of her husband with his head half-shaved, "Half way through a shave."

I hope all this stuff is true so Disney can buy Batman from WB

So is this a reboot then?

Will we see the 57th version of Bruce Wayne's origin story?
I hope not. They've done it so many times and dwelled on it so much it's annoying at this point.

Colin Farrell in Talks to Play Penguin, Andy Serkis in Talks to Play Alfred in THE BATMAN

The Batman has found its Penguin. Colin Farrell is in talks to play the DC villain, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

Andy Serkis is going from the Marvel Cinematic Universe to the world of DC, as the actor is in talks to join The Batman as the Dark Knight's butler Alfred Pennyworth, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

The move will reteam Serkis with filmmaker Matt Reeves, who directed the actor in two Planet of the Apes movies. Serkis played the villain Klaue in 2018's Black Panther for Marvel Studios.

Filmmaker Matt Reeves is behind The Batman, which stars Robert Pattinson as the Dark Knight, with other actors including Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as the Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as Batman ally Commissioner Gordon and Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth.

The Penguin, also known as Oswald Cobblepot, first debuted in the comics in 1941's Detective Comics No. 58 and was created by writer Bill Finger and artist Gil Kane. He is known as a master manipulator and his penguin-like physique and waddle. While he favors using henchmen to do his bidding, when confronted one-on-one he's known for using his umbrella as a weapon.

Bruce Wayne’s faithful manservant — and Batman’s more-than-capable aide — Pennyworth debuted in 1943’s Batman No. 16, although he didn’t get his familiar name for 26 years; he was, originally, Alfred Beagle. No matter what name he went by, he’s been the sidekick responsible for keeping Batman alive for decades, being equally versed in manners of upper-class society and field medic techniques.

There Will Be Blood Actor Paul Dano to Play the Riddler in THE BATMAN

ymzcgPV.jpg

Filmmaker Matt Reeves has found his Riddler for The Batman. Paul Dano has signed on as the classic villain, Warner Bros. announced Thursday.

Dano's version of the character will be named Edward Nashton, the man who in the comics later goes by the name Edward Nygma and adopts the villainous persona. Frank Gorshin and John Astin played the villain in the 1960s TV series, while Jim Carrey played him in 1995's Batman Forever, directed by Joel Schumacher.

Robert Pattinson is starring in The Batman, with Zoe Kravitz set to play Catwoman and Jeffrey Wright on board as Batman ally Commissioner Gordon. Jonah Hill was at one point eyeing a role as either the Riddler or the Penguin, but the deal did not come to fruition. Reeves has said he plans to include a rogues gallery of Batman villains in the film.

Dano was recently nominated for an Emmy for his role in Escape at Dannemora. The actor directed, co-wrote and produced the critically acclaimed film Wildlife. His other film credits include Love and Mercy, Prisoners, 12 Years a Slave, There Will Be Blood, Little Miss Sunshine,Youth and Okja, among others.

Created by Bill Finger and Dick Sprang, the Riddler — aka Edward Nygma, or "E. Nigma" — is a supervillain who aims to challenge Batman in a battle of wits, leaving clues and riddles for the world's greatest detective to solve in order to catch him. Since debuting in 1948's Detective ComicsNo. 140, he's gone on to become one of the most high-profile Bat-villains, appearing in movies, cartoons and video games across the past seven decades, stretching his question mark gimmick as far as it could go and then some, including spending some years as a good guy when he realized it was just as much fun to solve crimes as it was to commit them.

Zoe Kravitz to Play Selina Kyle/Catwoman in Matt Reeves' THE BATMAN

BZjBUtW.jpg

Matt Reeves and Warner Bros.’ upcoming The Batman has found its Catwoman: Zoe Kravitz has nabbed the role of one of the highest-profile members of the Caped Crusader's rogue's gallery, according to several sources.

The decision came down over the weekend after a rigorous testing process that saw saw Ana de Armas, Ella Balinska, Eiza Gonzalez and Kravitz read with Robert Pattinson, who is set to play the Dark Knight. The testing process occurred over the first week of the month, and the four were then narrowed to two late last week.

Reeves is directing what is described as a grounded take with a large rogue’s gallery as the antagonists. Jeffrey Wright is already on board as Batman ally Commissioner Jim Gordon.

Catwoman is one of Batman’s classic foes who also happens to be one of his longest-lasting loves. A cat burglar whose weapon of choice is a whip, the antihero is the alter ego of Selina Kyle. She was a fixture on the 1960s Batman television show, on which she was played by Julie Newmar, Lee Meriwether and Eartha Kitt. Michelle Pfeiffer portrayed the character in her most popular big-screen incarnation, 1992’s Batman Returns, while Halle Berry toplined a 2004 solo outing, which bombed at the box office. Anne Hathaway also played the character in 2012's The Dark Knight Rises.

Kravitz is already well-known at Warners, as she has appeared as Leta Lestrange in the studio’s Harry Potter Fantastic Beasts spinoffs. She also voiced the role of Catwoman in 2017’s The Batman Lego Movie. Kravitz recently co-starred on HBO’s Big Little Lies and is set to star in the small-screen version of High Fidelity, which is being made for Hulu.

Jeffrey Wright Cast as Commissioner Gordon in Matt Reeve's THE BATMAN

99e4Neq.jpg

There's going to be a new commissioner in Gotham City. Westworld star Jeffrey Wright is in negotiations to play Commissioner Gordon, the classic ally to the Dark Knight, in Matt Reeves' The Batman.

Robert Pattinson is headlining what is being planned as a grounded take on as the DC Comics crime-fighter. Casting is in early stages for a who's who of Batman's rogue gallery.

Jim Gordon, depending on what stage career-wise the character is portrayed, is the police commissioner or detective at the Gotham City Police Department and Batman's reluctant ally. In recent screen appearances, Gary Oldman played the role in Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy while J.K. Simmons played the role in Zack Snyder's Justice League.

Reeves will be directing from his own script for the Warner Bros./DC feature, and will produce with his Planet of the Apes collaborator Dylan Clark.

The Batman is set for a June 25, 2021, release.

Wright has a busy fall ahead of him with the release of Steven Soderbergh's financial drama The Laundromat and Warners' adaptation of The Goldfinch. He is set for the next James Bond film, No Times to Die, and Wes Anderson's next outing, The French Dispatch.

I lol'd at his upcoming ferocious masturbation scene what makes it ferocious? like in a tiger in the room or mike tyson or both.

I like Paul Dano, he'd make a decent young Penguin or Joker, creepy little fucker.
Not sure about Riddler though.

This Pattinson fucker has me as passionately hateful as @Clippy is about Rian Dongson

Batman is my shit, I can't picture this for a second

I read the leaked script. The reason theres so many villians is because the main villian is none other than the ClayFace. He will throw audiences off until the end when it is revealed it was him committing the crimes....

The worst Batman movies imo have been theones where they have shoehorned too many villains in.

Not a good sign imo

I'd be cool with Peter Sarsgaard as Two Face, hes been in some good under the radar type roles lately.
