The Ank Poatan rematch may be a terrible career move for Poatan

im not sure Alex can make that weight cut again. ive seen him state that it was very difficult for him to do.
because Alex is only getting older, that can make the cut that much harder.
if he does, id be up for seeing him face DDP

but i give Ank props for wanting an immediate rematch. i think its only fair as Alex has defended the belt 3 times, which is the number i see thrown around in reference to which champs should get immediate rematches.
 
To be fair there were signs that Poatan is slowing down in previous fight.
Non-elite Khalil took off of him 2 rounds of pure striking.
Then he was very gunshy in Ank fight.

It would be better to match Poatan against lesser competition. Step down and fight Rakić and lets see if he still got it.

Ank should fight Jiri for fresh matchup or Ulberg/Jan winner - also fresh match up in Carlos case or unfinished business in other hand. Win-win situation for fans.

The only funny thing is how apt of a comparison it truly is

Both have 1 ko in their last 5 wins
Both have 2 ko's in their last 8 wins
the rest of those wins are decisions

So I'm not really sure what you meant by this, Their finishing rate is virtually identical.

I don't expect a response to this post.

Big Ank contributed to the highlight reel of Johnny Walker's KO's so he'll always have that in his resume

in all seriousness i actually think Strickland CAN hit pretty hard, he just chooses not to in order to conserve energy. his jab looks like its a bitch though; peoples' faces are all marked up after fighting him when it doesnt look like he hits them with much.

i feel bad for the guy tbh, in interviews he always seems very nice and friendly. he's almost always in exciting fights, win or lose.
but i dunno, he's been knocked out BAD several times. i wonder if he should just hang it up and try to make a living from training people or being a sparring partner.

Could not agree more. He didn't do much of anything against Ank and it was a terrible fight. I don't want another 5 rounds of that. If he beats someone else in an interesting matchup and Ank gets a W then by all means run it back.

Only issue is that there aren't many interesting fights for Alex right now so I expect the UFC to give him a rematch for $$ reasons.
 
He already had a good carreer and made a shit ton of cash. What else he gonna do if not the rematch, hes almost 40. Might as well just try his luck one more time, if he loses then 1 final run at HW maybe, if not then just call it a day and retire
