Nothing against Thiago but I personally prefer Thatch vs Mein.

Mein is pretty good but he fell by the way side when the Matt Brown locomotive came to town full steam... no shame. He has done a fair bit. He is like one of those younger guys like Do Bronx or Mike and Rory Macdonald. All have above average skills for their age group but needs a few more adjustments to reach the top. Of those young dudes Rory is clearly ahead though at this time.

Thatch and Mein like it standing. They both have decent power, good kicks, etc. I am sure Brown's liver still remember that shot from Mein.

I think Mein has seen the best opposition so far but Thatch has been UFC-ready for a while as well. He had nothing else to prove in the beer leagues.

I am not quite decided on this one. Thatch practice time with GSP is an asset and a great confidence builder especially if he held his ground with George in some areas but Thatch's fights tend to be short. Not sure what he will do over a solid 3 rounds.

Do you see a clear winner in this fight?
Is this a 'must see' for you?

im just excited to see thatch back in action- i think he has a ton of potential

Stoked for this fight! Thatch has some mad stand-up skills but I think Mein can hang with him. On the ground though I'd give Mein the advantage. Personally I can't call a winner on this one.

Anyone against Thatch is a must see right now. I got him by 2nd rnd tko

This should be a good figh, I have Thatch via TKO.

To start I was very, very stoked for Alves-Mein. Too bad about Thiago getting injured, unfortunate. In any case, this match up more than makes up for it. As good and promising as Brandon Thatch is, I can't see him bringing many things to the table that can thwart what Mein will bring himself. Jordan trumps the ground game, where I doubt it will go and has better stand to top it in my books.

Taking Mein via TKO in the second.

Should be a great one though.

Amped.

Thread title is definitely more clever than R3.

Are you going for Mein Kampf here or is that unintentional?

I think just "my" since that's the German word for it (you probably know that).

Of course, like many other things, Hitler ruined even possessive adjectives for everyone.

Long-term, I'd rather have seen Alves-Mein and Thatch fight Pyle or Pierce (to test his wrestling) since I don't like seeing young, up and coming guys matched up so early. Still, should be a good one, and War Thatch.

Honestly I think Thatch is a tougher fight for Mein than Alves was.

Alves may be one of my favourite fighters, but the way Thatch fights.. always forward, Mein might struggle with that pressure. He did pretty well against Matt Brown for a little bit but overall, the pressure was too much and eventually he got stopped, Thatch has the power to end it even quicker.

Alves fights more technical and he's a fucking beast, obviously, but I think Thatch's style (constantly moving forward with strikes) is going to be harder for Mein to deal with instead of Alves 'cause Alves fights a little more laid back.

No need to go into further detail, either way both were good fights and I'm upset Alves had to pull out, yet I'm really looking forward to this because Thatch is legit, as is Mein.

Mein looked pretty bad in his last fight. He seems to gas mid way through his fights.

"Mein kind of fight" is a fair translation of Mein Kampf, which means my struggle or my fight. I was not suggesting the comment was neo Nazi propaganda or anything, it seemed like it might be a little bi lingual word play.
I should have refrained from going all Hitlerly on folks. Mein apologies.

I feel better about this than I did against Thiago.

Mein, outpointing him to a UD.

The two mean totally different things and that translation isn't remotely accurate.

Thatch is much better on the ground than Alves. Which means Mein doesn't have a sure fire plan b is he's down the scorecards and in fact, he may have to worry about Thatch going for a takedown or two.

The other factor to consider is Mein's state of mind. Alves is a way bigger name and would have a huge opportunity for Mein to put his name on the map. So the door may be open here for Mein to underestimate Thatch a little.
