Greats and legends throughout history should to be sent off in a way worthy of their legacy.

Not just thrown by the wayside. Which seems to happen far too often.

That's how legends should be treated. It is just a small glimpse of how team sports treat their retiring legends. I think Coker is overrated as a promoter and organizational president, but he got this one right. Hespect.
 
He’s the HW goat, No one is even close to catching up to that. Excellent career overall, his reign in pride was fairly dominant, he went unbeaten for years and retired with a respectable record despite late career losses. One of the best to ever do it.
 
Different sports culture. We loved Pride because it valued the fighters. UFC thrives because it is never about the fighters, it is about the brand. It may mean the UFC won't die, but it also means it ain't all that alive.

That's why we love Fedor for Fedor, rather than the 82% income he funnels towards the top of the WME corporate ladder.
