Walk with me for a minute...
1- Brock didn’t actually know he was getting into the octagon.
How many times have fighters been in attendance and we were all thinking there would be a faceoff in the octagon after a fight? I can only remember once where it actually happened, Gsp and Hughes. It only happened again last night because DC fookin took the initiative! Good on him btw.
2- Brock was so taken back that DC took that initiative because it is so rarely done and he was unprepared, hence why he was all smiles.
He was put on the spot but yet he was flattered and pleased with DC’s antics. Upon walking into the octagon Brock realized he was showing too much ‘happy face’ and so his WWE instincts kicked in and he realized that he has to put on his game face but unfortunately he over exagerated it with the extra violent shove to an unsuspecting DC.
3- Do you really think DC would have his wife and children there in the cage to witness up close the big bad man shove him half way across the cage like that?
If you pay attention, sadly you can see DC’s son react with fear and concern for his father. DC would not traumatize his own children to sell a fight. I wouldn’t be surprised if Brock went over backstage and apologized to DC’s children and tell them it was all an act in an effort to erase the psychological trauma.
4- DC was very obviously upset by the shove.
He took it well in stride and ultimately played along but you could tell that it took away from his moment. One second he was on top of the world, the next he was made to look like a weakling being shoved into tomorrow in front of everyone but most importantly, his children.
Yes, that was promotion but it wasn’t scripted and Brock didn’t plan it. It was off the cuff yet at the same time disingenuine as I’m sure Brock didn’t mean to frighten DC’s children and he probably regrets it.
5- Brock is a professional actor.
If that was planned it would have been done with much better execution. If Brock had been ready for that then when the camera panned over to him he wouldn’t have been blushing like an idiot, he would have been mean mugging like he was when the camera first panned over to him upon his entrance into the arena.
He wasn’t ready for it people. Brock thought all he would have to do was look tough in the audience but when he got put on the spot, he tried to improvise and ended up over compensating.
End of story.
