That sequence where Harris drops Overeem and then bombs on him for 30seconds was brutal!

Comparing that to Cejudo/Cruz - the amount of force/impact that Overeem took must be like 100 times that of those pitter patter shots that Cejudo was landing.

Maybe they should just have one referee who does all fights and maybe have like a 30min break halfway through that broadcast if the guy needs a break or something.

At least then there would be some consistency, perhaps they could have band come out and play like during the SuperBowl?

This is a great idea, especially the superbowl part, could also some fucking fireworks.

The difference being reem actually kept trying to move and advance rather than fold and wait out the beating. Cruz sat there and took it without showing any signs of actively fighting. Reem kept trying to tie walt up and go for his legs. It was fairly fucking suprising considering reem's history and how hard he was nailed by walt that he relatively kept his wits.

Refs are human, and they’re gonna fuck up. In threads about refs. I always chose Keith Peterson as the example of the best ref. And then he fucked up the Cruz-CCC stoppage. It happens, and I still think he’s one of the best. I’ve seen fuckups from every ref, just having one ref wouldn’t solve anything. I usually think Herzog is good, and he really screwed the pooch on that Smith-Glover fight. Just how it goes.

Agreed. Herzog really didn't have a blemish until the smith fight... Come to think of it... did "no nonsense" have one?

No, not that I can recall. He’s my favorite ref. It’s funny, as the Cruz fight stared I was telling my gf that Cruz-CCC was the fight I was most looking forward to, and I was glad Peterson was the ref so nothing sketchy would happen.
And then he fucked up the stoppage.
I can’t recall another major mistake from him.

We don't need a fucking band to come out and play like halftime. We just need more commercials so UFC can make more money.

how come he fucked up?? Cruz was hitting the canvas with his face everytime. The only damage Henry took was with one unintentional headbutt

This is a pet peeve of mine in general—when fighters are dropped, they have to be given time to defend. I see why Peterson did what he did; Dom was dropped and eating shots. At the time the fight was waved off, Cruz was getting back to his feet. In other words, Cruz was working to advance to a better position which =intelligent defense. How much damage Cejudo did or didn’t take isn’t relevant. The relevant points are: was Cruz KOed (he wasn’t), was Cruz intelligently defending (he was)?
Because of the way it played out, it’s not the worst stoppage I’ve ever seen or anything. But it was not correct; it was a bit quick.

Herzog was perfect in the Smith fight. If anyone made a mistake it was the corner or doctor for not stopping it in between rounds. Smith was still defending himself and as soon as he wasn’t Herzog stopped it.

I disagree. The corner should’ve stopped it, but they shouldn’t have to stop a fight to protect their fighter. That’s the ref’s job. I was happy with Herzog not stopping it at the end of the 3rd. Smith was taking damage, but defending. But fairly early in rd 4, it became clear that this was just a prolonged beating and Smith was not in the fight anymore. Herzog should’ve stopped it at that point.
I thought Ferguson-Gaethje was correct, as was Overeem-Harris imo.

Walt and Cejudo's attacks were different and their opponents defended differently.

Apples and oranges, dude.
