It's hard to beat. Got the new Discover today, It was like 10 seconds of REAL, actual excitement. Whatever you are into, do the world a favor and order a magazine if you are fortunate enough to have a mailbox. I recommend Nat Geo and Discover, who are both fighting the good fight and staying highly professional and readable, even though both (especially Discover) have taken a small step down intellectually because they have to meet a demand from people who let the media think for them and believe in BF and crap.. But they are still intellectually honest, very respectable, and almost always more interesting than anything on TV.

Side note, when I was 12-13 my older half brother had his Playboys sent here. That black bag arriving was beyond exciting for a kid that age pre-internet. We didn't even have cable lol. I would carefully rip that bag open and enjoy those a lot.. At that age.

Anybody else still legitimitely get 'that feeling' when a new magazine comes in the mail?

I get US Weekly every Friday and I sit and look though the min I get the mail.

When I was a kid I used to get excited for manga and Playstation magazines that my parents would pick me up from the store sometimes. Then I went through a phase where I thought they were stupid since the whole internet was a mere click away.

Recently a family member signed me up for two new ones as a random birthday present and the excitement is definitely back. I'm due for a new one any day now...

Yes! I get Real Simple and it makes me oh so happy as soon as I get it.

No, we have internet now.

This is similar to the reality we type and text much more than we put pen to paper. Even further, I find that whenever I do write things down, like a grocery list or something, it's printed. I never use handwriting/cursive any longer.

A buddy of mine and I tried to hand write for fun the other day based on the notion we simply never use this skill set any longer, and it was very true. I felt like a baby deer learning to stand.

My iPad helps me sleep like a baby. You should buy one if you can afford it.

Yeah.. More media devices will make me feel better lol.. No.

Tablets keep you up an extra hour or three. Completely different thing. Try a magazine or two, if you can afford it.

No no no.. Write your lists on an apple device, because tneir commercials tell you that's the better way.. Even though it's obviously not.. We saw the commercial where the cool nerds left the other nerd alone because he didn't have the list device from apple, that's why we need it.
