Anyone out there have strong enough willpower not to have a cheat day on Thanksgiving? I'm gonna try my best to eat small portions, but this may be rough. I normally end up eating about 2 servings of regular turkey and 2 of fried turkey, 2 servings of stuffing, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, and pumpkin pie. This is followed by a 2 hour nap. After the nap, I normally make a huge turkey sandwhich. Then I take another nap. Then I make a turkey manhattan followed by a nap. I'm doomed.

It doesn't take any more willpower than any other day.

im having 5 huge scoops of mashed potatoes, at least 1lbs. of turkey and a mountain of veggies..

and i'm not even american!

I beg to differ on that. Rarely will there ever be that much good food at my parents place. Also, it is somewhat a social affair at my parents place. This year I will be going to my girlfriends parents' place as well for dinner. It's almost insulting to not eat at both places. It doesn't help that I love turkey and stuffing also.

Oblivian is right. Try to be in my place! I'm cutting weight for a tournament. I CAN'T cheat. I have really hurt people's feelings by turning down food at family gatherings and stuff.

If people know you and know how your lifestyle is, they won't be insulted if you turn down food. If they are still insulted, then you need new friends/family.

It's just another day, no more tempting than walking through a grocery store.

a little cheating isnt terrible. Depending upon if you are seriously training for a competition

Peer pressure!

Damn, holidays are terrible. They'll be your toughest test of willpower.
It is hard to go do the family thing and pass on the meal though. You can't really get away with not eating, especially without offending whoever cooked. =\

Alot of you need to go see doctors about your eating disorders. Eating Turkey, Potatoes, Stuffing, and Vegetables, and maybe a slice of pumpin pie is not cheating.

It is if your trying to make weight for a competition. That being said unless there is a specific weight you need to be at for an upcoming competition, Thanksgiving is fair game.

IMHO, unless you're very close to competition and really ytryin' to cut, it's okay to have a cheat day; makes the rest of the time easier to bear.

Godamnit, don't muck up a perfectly good holiday by adding some fucking guilt to it... THAT'S WHAT CHRISTMAS IS FOR!

Thanksgiving is the perfect holiday: No presents, no pressure, no guilt no fake "holiday cheer," no religious affiliations, no politically correct rephrasing (happy holidays my ass... if you get offended by somebody wishing you a merry christmas, you deserve to be unhappy during the holidays). T-Day is just good food, good people, and a good nap afterwards.

Don't muck this up.

if you control yourself during thanksgiving, you'll be alright , just one plate lol... no 2nd rounders

I couldn't have said it better then Urban.
Don't mess with Turkey Day.
Apple pie, pumkin pie, chocolate pie, bananna cream pie, and o yea turkey.

Bry

maybe if you guys didn't cheat on the days preceeding it, you wouldn't have this problem.

I am with you. It is possibly the best holiday. When am I going to be allowed to go to the gym in the moring (mine is open at 7am), stuff my face with great food, then lay on the couch, watch football and nap? Never
