Great match did marcelo win that? Did he get points for that sweep at the end?

    I didn't see a finish.

It was a sweep attempt that turned into a takedown attempt, both failed. No points there.

Where's the rest of the fight?

no, fight enden by dec. 4-0 for Terere. I had to cut out the end of the fight so I can UL. I will try to UL later their fight from Mundial 2003 where Terere triangled Marcelinho.

One of my training partners passes the guard in a similar fashion to Terere and overal has a similar game to Terere. He was from TT as well but left because of a dispute with his instructor.

I suppose styles make fights and Terere has the style that shuts Marcelos game down. I think if this match was no gi then the result might of been different.

I just watched Terere against Roger Gracie and he was excellent. I really believe that Roger wouldn't be considered as highly as he is now if he were the same size as these other guys. He makes them all look like midgits. Im not saying he hasn't got skills but if he were the size of these other guys then I don't think he would be doing as well as he is now on the competition circuits.

I don't think so personally. The reason why he win is because is game is so solid. He might not be flying triangling everyone but he has great basics. I mean look how he handled drysdale and he is a stud on the mat. Roger is every bit as good as jacare terere or marcelo imo. his style is just different and less flashy.

yes we've all heard the typical

"rogers game is just so solid, he's mastered the basics, nothing flashy at all" yada yada

you have to come to realization that weight and size play a factor even in the game of technique.

what makes marcelo so impressive is that he is not only so impressive in his weight class but the way he destroys/ hangs with larger opponents. roger on the other hand has come close to being beaten by smaller opponents

ofcourse rogers game is tight. but to neglect weight as a factor isnt a good idea. let marcelo and roger be the same weight and i bet you their fights would look a LOT differently. and im not saying "oh marcelo would own him at the same weight" but i think the very least their fights would be much more competitive.

    btw what weight is terere
