Terence Crawford: I'd never consider MMA. They get paid too little.

Conor wouldn't get out of bed for $1.3m, to be fair

hahahahaha, if he loses to Nate....AGAIN......he'll never see that much for another MMA fight in his career. Then.....if he somehow can make weight for FW and loses to Aldo as well....just sign up for Prelims or Bellator.

Just because some athletically gifted people won does not mean you need to be athletic to win

This is goofy.

A national championship in JuCo wrestling is absolutely in 1:1 parity with being athletically gifted. You can argue some more special than others, but all of them are great athletes. That guy I was responding to said Jon Jones isn't a great athlete because he has a bad vertical jump.

It's really too stupid for a response, but here I am anyhow.

Crawford used to wrestle and now is fighting on PPV tonight.

Hes getting paid a guaranteed $1.3 million tonight.

If Dana wasnt greedy he would attract A-level athletes like Crawford.

You know who else is fighting on that card?

George "Comanche Boy" Tahdooahnippah

35-2 boxing (hes probably gonna lose tonight)
Kickboxing champ
Top 10 wrestler in USA

If UFC paid decent, they would have another A-level athlete like him

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Tahdooahnippah#Kickboxer

and then you have guys like Chris Algieri, who was also kickboxer and wrestler and gets $1.5m to fight Khan, etc.

UFC missing out on some A-level talent

George "Comanche Boy" Tahdooahnippah is not an a level athlete. he is not even an a level boxer. his record was built on the reservations of Oklahoma against absolute nobodies. he does not have a win over single relevant boxer. in fact, in his 29th pro fight, he was fighting a guy making his debut and never fought again

Yeah, but Conor, who's only a weight class above Cruz and Ronda who fought at 135 and is a woman got paid millions for several of their fights.

What I'm saying is, MMA guys get paid, you just have to bring in the numbers. Crawford probably wouldn't though cuz he's not a talker or is marketable at all.

Cruz and Johnson get paid so little because nobody cares about them unfortunately.

Cruz has pillow fists and a boring style and people just don't like 125 yet. Plus, it comes down too what they make off of PPV. Johnson doesn't make much because they put him on shit cards that don't sell.

Crawford has power and knocks alot of dudes out, they could market that. An athletic 135er with power, there's marketability there. That's half the reason people like Conor.
Yet he is getting money usually reserved for "needlemovers". there is absolutely no chance for him to get anything close to what he's making now in guaranteed money if his metrics are the same if he were to go into mma with the same type of success. Hes able to get that amount now because a larger percentage of revenue goes to bixers in comparison to mma, and thats the most valuable figure when comparing payouts between the two.

Hey no need to stop being a lady, my point is MMA has grown and the top stars get paid more than Terence. If he's avoiding MMA because of the pay it means he doesn't think he will be a top star.
and if he were a top star in boxing with the same clout and popularity as those you've mentioned, he'll make even more. Several times more, in fact.

Lol, these guys are prize fighters.

Take that honor, tai chi crap to star bucks.

Pride, glory, honor, wanting to be the best, wanting to go down as a somebody, etc, are all natural traits that humans in general care about. If mere fans of the sport care about who the best is, then no reason not to hold the actual fighters who do it for a living to the same standards. You're an idiot.

Boxers SHOULD get paid more. Higher chance of dieing, higher risk of permanent injury, higher prevalence of post concussion syndromes.

Crawford is an excellent and smart fighter though, so he minimizes those risks, but still, the risk is greater, and so should be the rewards IMO.

That's a big IF especially with a dying sport, those chances decrease everyday and they continually grow in MMA as fighter pay just keeps getting better.

Exactly. Take any UFC champ and their boxing equivalent would make much more

Terrence Crawford isn't a popular figure. That's not butthurt. That's a testament to the fact that most boxers are unknowns.

Still more popular than every single MMA fighter, maybe except Ronda and Conor.

So MMA fans saying "who?" to Crawford is a fantastic example of butthurt overload.

Not really. If you legitimately don't know who Crawford is (I wouldn't, either, if I didn't watch boxing), then it's not surprising to say 'who?' You're assuming those comments are facetious, and they could be, but there really is no reason for anyone who doesn't watch boxing to know the name. He's not some sort of major crossover star, ala Mayweather and Pacquai.

There are quite a few more popular fighters in MMA. I would bet you more people on the street know the name Holly Holm than Terrence Crawford.

You do realize they aren't saying "who?" because they actually don't know who he is. Come on man don't be that naive.

Bunch of butthurt crybabies "defending" their sport because someone said something negative about MMA that is %100 factual truth.

No one would say "Who?" or anything like that if Crawford said "MMA is the greatest sport!" I'm not assuming those comments are facetious, I KNOW they are.

Besides, why does it matter who he is? Why can't any human being say Boxing pays more than MMA? Why should he be popular to say that? Sherdoggers basically discuss everything about MMA all the time, so "who are Sherdoggers?"

You say Holm is more popular than Crawford. So; "Coolidge who?"

Complete butthurt man, TRUST ME.

This coming from a huge MMA fan, obv.

After what Rory went through against Lawler & I saw his purse... I was sickened. To be fair they're getting paid a lot better now than a year ago. Boxing does pay great though, if you was signed with Al Haymon at the start of PBC you was getting paid millions for fighting bums.

Conor, Jones, GSP, Ronda and more get paid way more than that. What Terence is saying is he doesn't expect to be a top fighter.

Nope. He is saying he can make much more as a top boxer than as a top MMA fighter.

You want to compare Mayweather's pay with the best pay the UFC has ever paid out? UFC just didn't pay their fighters and expects the few who make "Terrence Crawford money" to just be grateful. Crawford is right here. Boxers are paid more almost at every skill level.

those are literally the biggest ufc stars of all time lol
crawford is far from the being one of the biggest stars in boxing

Exactly and boxing pays in the tens-hundreds of millions for that talent. Boxing is the smarter choice between the two.

That boy looked good. He's got the talent to get where you need to make big money in boxing.
