Networks expect full developed superstars. In the light of success people always like to forget who forged that path. Also quite some fighters like to forget that. Promoters are very important and in many cases they love the sport and live it. Not everyone is King.
Its often a thankless job. Some fighters try to screw you, attendance may not be enough...etc but often they have to front all the money.
De La Hoya has done a LOT of good for boxing in general, building up pros (like Canelo) when they dont make him money and underpriviliged kids with some of his programms (education, boxing, fitness...etc). These leeches like fight oracle are in reality just oportunistic asskissers.
Networks come and go (see HBO), a promoter is there to stay.
