Yea, The title is going to make you click on the video...I'm ok with that.

This is another option after trapping your opponents arm with his/her lapel. This is a very controlling position but sometimes your opponent can free their arm. Your hand should already be close to the lapel anyway attempting to finish the Baseball Choke variation. If their arm comes free it should be very easy for you to slip into that gap.

Keep good control of your base. Sometimes when my students become over zealous to get that hand in and finish the Ezekiel Choke they let their centerline cross over their opponents and can be swept. Maintain your position at all costs.

So your right hand, the hand that feeds inside, isn't grabbing anything right? You're just pressing the fist down against his carotid?

You are correct in the fact that you're not grabbing a hold of anything but you're not exactly pressing down on the carotid. The fulcrum created by weaving your and into the kimono should be sufficient that all you need to do is straighten your arms.

You can play with the strength of this choke by adjusting the amount of slack in the kimono. If you make sure to really trap that arm initially with a deep lapel grip then this will make their head want to pop off. But then again the tighter it is the less likely your opponent will be able to get their arm out. There is definitely a sweet spot that can only be found while repping it out.

Very nice!

I like how your knee on belly submissions are really building off each other. It's nice to be able to attack in combos!

Great video.

Caio Terra has a really good instructional on youtube on this same move from side control.

I try to get most things to fit together although I think as the volume of videos increases on the youtube channel that it may be difficult to keep them interlocking like this.

MAN...I like this a lot. I hit a lot of triangles/straight armbars/ armbars etc from side control when they make mistakes putting their arms in compromising positions. I was in the market for a new attack, especially when they are behaving like this, so THANKS PIMP! :P

nice! is it safe to say it'd work the same way when in mount?

also, is there a way to ezekiel using the lapel this way when you have the back? i like that choke but i often wind up twisting the shit out of my fingers inside my sleeve. i'm guessing it's due to poor technique, but i'd love to be able to remove fingers from the equation altogether.

thanks for the great instructionals!

I'm really enjoying your series of collar attacks from the side control to knee-on-belly setup. I usually didn't manage to really threaten with anything from side control before, and was just looking to mount as quickly as possible. Now I feel side control has become my second best offensive position after rear mount.

White belt learning curve ftw.
