The talent pool here in my village alone is 1000 times deeper than MMAs worldwide … lol.
Takes a different skill and mindset to become a fighter, on any combat sport than to play a team sport...
Except you can hide in team sports. No hiding when it's one on one. And all the pressure is on you. You take the loss and bear the punishment. Combat Sports>Contact Team Sports.
Combat sports are exponentially tougher than team sports. Nowhere to hide, nobody to come on and take your place if you’re hurt or exhausted, no pay if you don’t fight.
Fair point, but unless there is a foul most can play every week, and lose said game every week, nothing happens to them, to their health, even their fan base, there are teams with 50 or more year streaks with no title, they still have a fan base.Soccer Players have to prove themselves every fucken week.
most UFC fighters cant even stay in shape.

I think its more just that most of the biggest sports with the biggest talent pools are team sports.
"most"Tell that to Andrés Escobar https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andrés_Escobar he made one mistake.
no feeder league/progression for mma kind of skews people's thoughts on career length and ageI agree with some of what you say. Another factor is the progression built into society for other sports. Little league, travel ball, highschool, college, minor league, Intl. Leagues, big leagues, etc. That doesn't exist at an early age for MMA. No ones getting a scholarship for MMA. Wrestling, yes, boxing also yes, but MMA doesn't have a feeder system like other, mostly team, sports.
Yea and a fighter who lands one lucky shot gets a win . A football player gets lucky once is still exposed every other play and can be cut with no bellator or one fc to fall back onNfl, nba, etc..
All nische sports.. crocket, soccer, tennis and field hockey.. that's where the a level athletes are at..
Only a country of 330 million even cares about these a level athletes..
And as many said.. a fighter can never hide.. a football player who loses a duel in a game and gets flatlined and their team win still had a great game..
A fighter who loses a duel got slept and got a worse record..
Soccer bahahahahahhaSoccer Players have to prove themselves every fucken week.

I agree, and many team sports dont impact individuals worth in the way that combat sports do. When I think of boxing just a couple of losses can completely derail a career and earnings potential. Whereas a defensive lineman's team might suck, but he is still able to demand good compensation because of his individual contributions and reputation. While when people look at fighters they immediately go to their win/loss record. The MMAth doesn't always add up. Especially guys like BJ Penn who just took L after L in his later career.no feeder league/progression for mma kind of skews people's thoughts on career length and age
In football you have these people that played four years of varsity and then went and played three to four more years of division one college football before they're even eligible to make a practice squad on an NFL roster. That's the equivalent of like 25+ MMA fights yet most people on here think somebody with that many fights is either passed their prime or a journeyman when in most sports that's when you have a foundation of experience and skills needed for even entry level pro leagues
Soccer bahahahahahha
When i made the thread I didn’t imagine this post would come up, but I’m glad it did.
Overpaid gymnastics girlMichael Phelps, Simone Biles and Roger Federer disagree with you.
In the Early 2000's Michael Shumacher (F1) was the highest paid athlete in the world.
