The bad news here is that they're likely going to go head to head with Manny vs JMM 5 for some bizarre infinitely stupid reason.

On the other hand imagine if they managed to get those two fights on the same card. Not going to happen but hell.

WBC junior middleweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (41-0-1, 30KOs) will get his wish in 2013 - a dream fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr. - according to Canelo's manager Chepo Reynoso.

Canelo and Mayweather will co-headline a big evening of boxing on May 4th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Should both of the superstars win their individual fights, they will collide on September 14th at the same Las Vegas venue.

"[Vice President] Eric Gomez of Golden Boy Promotions came to Guadalajara and we agreed that Saul and Floyd would share the evening in May. We already reached a financial agreement [for May], and a guarantee that we will face [Mayweather] in September in Las Vegas," said Chepo via telephone.

"The worth of Saul was confirmed by the large attendance at the [MGM Grand], even though on that same day Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. fought 'Maravilla' Martinez a few blocks away. In addition, Canelo finished Josesito Lopez with the force that was expected. Mayweather had difficulties in defeating Puerto Rico's Miguel Cotto, who even landed some big punches. We believe that it is time for Canelo to show what is made of."

Mayweather will likely face Robert "The Ghost" Guerrero in May. Canelo's opponent is still unresolved, but Austin Trout is still rumored to be in the running.

Big mistake for Canelo IMO. Not that Mayweather would lose but I could just picture the reaction on this forum if Manny and Mayweather lose on the same night.

I really hope they put on May vs Canelo on the exact same night and time as Pac vs JMM 5. May on HBO and Pac on Showtime. Lets see you really is the bigger draw. Both good fight with stars on the B-side. Lets do this.

I think I'm more interested in watching both fights than a dick measuring contest.

Sounds more bizarrely insanely stupid that there will be a JMM/Pac 5.

Canelo will make this a fight. He is better than Cotto and Ortiz no question.

I think it's quite unanimously agreed, on these forums anyways, that Mayweather is the bigger draw lol.

    Obviously, this.

What do you guys think the betting odds will be for Canelo winning???

I'm thinking something like in the +200-+300 range

If it's +300 for Canelo winning in general I will put either 500 or 1000 down on it...

And if it's like +500-+600 for Canelo winning by KO I might put 500 on that.

I don't think Mayweather is as good at 154.
