He wouldn't have won the belt, but the division could have used him.

Yeah, it has to be frustrating for mid-tier fighters who just want legit fights in other orgs. The UFC has the cards available for guys like Barn Cat to fight often, get paid, and have their injuries taken care of.

I see Melvin having a meltdown soon. I doubt he gets the number of fights and exposure he was hoping for in the minors.

    Bring back the fucking tournaments.

Bellator is just going to lose talent if they keep focusing on names. Yeah they need names for views and shit but you gotta respect your talent, keep them busy and promote them.

I'm having a hard time imagining what the basis for this complaint is.
He was only contracted for 2 fights, apparently.

5 months in between is too long?
After 5 years away and a weight class change, he should have debuted with a title fight?

man sucks for Bellator, the new revamped barncat was fun to watch.

i wonder how much he thought about trying to go for the belt, he could have probably gotten a better contract with the ufc if he won or put up a really good fight.

Him vs Halsey would have been a good fight, could have def won the title.

Dont know what he's getting paid and its cool he's back in UFC but I think he had a better thing going in Bellator. He's not gonna be a top MW in UFC, in Bellator he could have been champ.

Bellators MW div is in horrible shape right now, I guess you do Halsey vs Carvalho?

He wasn't smart to go to the UFC but I don't think they were giving him enough fights which, I think, was his reason for leaving, he was pretty frustrated about it on Twitter. Though having the belt in the #2 company of all of MMA is better than being mid-tier in the UFC, more money and a much better thing for your career, look at guys like Rockhold, Melendez, Overreem, and Pettis. They had huge pushes once they got into the UFC, they often get big fights, and all three have main evented a UFC at one time or another. Then again, I think Halsey would have mauled him anyways.

With that said, I can't wait to see him in the UFC.

I have to agree with the tournaments coming back. I thought that the correct evolution for Bellator would be to have tourneys to determine new title contenders but to also allow previous tourney winners to have title shots. It would have given balance to their champions only fighting a max of twice a year as well as the issue of a tourney winner getting injured. Bringing in "Names" to fill out Main cards and attract more eyes to their home grown talent. I think that Bjorn missed out on the next evolution of the Bellator brand and Coker is taking them down the SF road of being UFC lite. They are going to keep overpaying for UFC cast offs like Tito and Koscheck and Shamrock and so on and it will ultimately end in their demise. It will just take longer with the deeppockets of Viacom.

Call me crazy, but I think Ben Reiter is a better challenger. The fight would be boring though, Carvalho would be more exciting.
