after seeing the ultimate fighter seasons.. i noticed.BOTH yoga practicioners do well in mma. OFcourse theres the thought that, therl be a LOT of hot chicks taking it:D:D:D

Im thinking about taking yoga, but i dont know which kind? i herad there are a lot of kinds, so yea,,,wats best for mma?

I would also be curious if anyone has flexibility/yoga DVD they would recommend.

i dont know that much about yoga but the most intense form is ashtanga

I started doing yoga to releive chronic back pain. I bought a book and just used the forms (asanas) and techniques (breathing, dynamic core tension) in it. I've found lots of other forms and techniques online. The book I have is "Journey into Power" by Baron Babtiste. As a book it's too long and very repetitive, but he explains the techniques well. To anyone thinking about learning yoga, I say go for it. You'll get out of it what you put in. It certainly won't make you worse at anything. It's helped my JJ. Good Luck

I'm kinda interested in yoga too. Not really brave enough to join up yet but maybe sometime soon. I know it's good for you but, . . . well, . . . umm, . . . it's YOGA.

I think Hatha Yoga. Quote from wikipedia " Traditional Hatha Yoga is a holistic yogic path, including moral disciplines, physical exercises (e.g., asanas (postures) and Pranayama (breath control), and meditation ". Here is the link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hatha_Yoga

tnx dude..got it.hehe..

well the firs tone..thres diego sanchez, and well, i know a lot of people hate him, but we cant deny that hes kicking ass right now. In addition, theres that other guy from season two that eats all sorts of weird sht..forgot his name..anwayys. Thanks much

I've taken a few(Three?) Yoga classes at my gym. Stopped because I didn't usually have enough time for it and everything else.

It is alot harder than it looks. Not only in terms of flexiabilty but strength and stability to hold the positions as well. If you have the time I'd say it would be very beneficial.

On the note of attractive young ladies attending the class, there were none. On the other hand, hot girls love the kickboxing class.

I have said for a long time that Yoga, pilates, and dance class will elevate anyones fight game.
I just recently took a class at the LVAC called power yoga cant remember the instuctors name but he is a former Soviet kickboxer star and the class was fucking brutal. He is a big dude and moved like a fucking panther he was very flexible and very strong. He now performs in one of the Vegas acrobat shows and does shit like holding a girl in each hand with arms extended to ceiling and standing on one foot with one leg stretched out to the side.

I strongly recommend Yoga. Why take it? Well, because it helps you develop flexibility, mental focus, stress relief, and alot of core balance.

And it's a great way to meet chicks. ;)

i don't know about yoga but tai chi works well for. i suggest you to find a good trainer because i heard that if you do some exercises wrong, they have side effects, in both yoga and tai chi chuan

One word of warning on YOGA tapes and books. You really shuld go to gym or studio when first starting out. Yoga poses are very precise. If you don't have your weight in the right place or don't rotate a hip or bicep at the correct angle your wasting the pose. Its real hard to keep up with these things if you've never done it before and don't know how its supposed to feel. Also if your doing pose incorrectly you can really hurt yourself. I''ve done it off and on for a few years now(Iyrngar) and it still kicks my ass if I've laid off for awhile and then start up again. And as someone else already posted. It is a real wrokout. You'd be surprised at how much strenght it takes to hold many of the poses. If yo start be prepared wake up the next sore in places you didn't know you had. But that being said I always feel really good after a good class and will sleep like a baby that night.

Not to mention there is usually a lot of eye candy (from what I hear) at Yoga classes. Another good reason to join instead of doing it solo.

In terms of eyecandy... There are some HOT women there, 10/10 as well as a couple of high-rating MILFs. Then there are your fat girls and your poor-aging middle-aged women.

I tried Yoga to get more flexible for grappling. It was the lamest thing i've ever done, but then again I took it at a community college. An average class of 30 consists of 5 HOT ass chicks, 5 hippy guys with short shorts, 2 people who look like they're homeless, 8 old ass people with short shorts, and 10 middle aged chattering moms.

Don't get your hopes up friend.

What type of Yoga?

I don't know my yogas, i know that there are different types: athletic, meditation, spiritual or whatever. Mine was clearly the lamest kind, whichever that is. I hear the athletic one is good. Mine seemed really cultish and religious. The guy teachin it looked like a starved and buff bill cosby in a loin cloth. He kept stressing that we wear as little clothes as possible, and it was essential to have full viewof the legs or some sh*t. Like I said, it was the lamest thing I've ever done.
