I did a little training in krabi krabong way back in 2002 the first time i was in thailand. I remember doing a few empty hand techniques also.. Not just weapons.

Not to my question: It the empty hand part of krabi krabong the same thing as muay boran?

yes, from what I've read, Muay Boran is just all the tools of Muay Thai (bare-hand) & Krabi Krabong(weapons and bare-hand) into one art. Because Muay Boran (ancient boxing) was used for war.

My understanding of it the tree runs a bit like this Muay Boran > Grabi Garbong/Krabi Krabong > Muay Thai. Modern Muay Thai descend from the empty hand skills of grabi grabong and Grabi has slowly reduced its practice of the empty hand skills over the the last dozen decades.
