If Myles Jury can ktfo Gomi, Poirier can do it easily.
That was in 2014. Do you think Clay Guida could have beaten 2006 BJ Penn? Or Brendan Schaub could KO 2006 Cro Cop?If Myles Jury can ktfo Gomi, Poirier can do it easily.
Poirier 2019 >>> Poirier in 2016.That was in 2014. Do you think Clay Guida could have beaten 2006 BJ Penn? Or Brendan Schaub could KO 2006 Cro Cop?
This is just not correct information which makes me question your age and cred.Poirier 2019 >>> Poirier in 2016.
Or do you think otherwise while he's beat 10x better fighters than MJ since.
Gomi isn't as good as people think he is and I was around watching MMA during the PRIDE era. He was probably juiced up big time since it was PRIDE He conveniently was garbage his entire UFC run but was considered one of the best LWs in the world prior to signing. He was the man to take on BJ and he wasn't even a top10 fighter when he fought in the UFC
Gomi was good but overrated. I'm 35 and started watching MMA in 1997. Have a nice day. This is just not correct information which makes me question your age and cred.
1) Never said Poirier was bad, he's good. He's the interim champ.
2) Gomi was not considered one of the best LWs when signing with the UFC. He may have lingered in some outlets' top 10, but everyone knew he was out of his prime by the time he signed with the UFC. The general feeling was too bad this didnt happen 3 years ago. He signed with UFC in 2010. Even leading up to the Nick Diaz loss people were saying he's slowed down a step. That was in February 2007.
3) He was the man to take on BJ and they fought in 2003. Gomi was considered one of the best back then and people wanted to see the rematch for years but by the time he came to the UFC no one cared because BJ lost to Edgar and Gomi was already 3 years removed from his prime.
Gomi gets smashed , effortlessly.Number 1 contender in lightweight is Poirer.
Number 1 contender in featherweight is Volk.
Gomi would have smashed these guys. Just a thought. I think Gomi hits harder, and would have smashed these guys. Just reminiscing. Its crazy how Guida has wins over Gomi AND BJ. Who wouldve thought
PRIDE NEVER DIES
I am going to be that guy. In Gomi's prime he beat Sakurai, Pulver, and that's about it.
He was a can crusher and when he did face a top fighter in BJ Penn he got beaten easily.
Diaz turned him into a panic wrestler, but that's what Diaz's do.No body ever beat Gomi boxing him. BJ used to have a great boxing. BJ turned into Sean Sherk when he fought him. Florian jabbed him, but we all know Florian was just looking for that takedown.
What good fighters did Ishida, Ralph, Kawajiri, and even Sakuria beat? Inform me
You clearly didn’t follow or just didn’t respect the likes of Kawajiri, Ishida, Gomi going 4-0 against Chute Boxe, Ralph Gracie was 6-0 before Gomi, winning the tournament vs Sakurai who in turn was tearing it up on the other side of the bracket
You’re comparing depth at the time to modern day depth. So he had some fillers (cans) mixed in with top guys at the time.
