1 country was invited in. The other was not.

Crusaders never cared. When Christians need protection, all bets are off.

The US certainly isn't protecting christians my dude. They are protecting sunni-muslim radicals and a marxist guerilla.

Turkey and Syrian rebel forces launched an assault on Neyrab. Russian Air Force bombed the shit out of them. Turkey and rebels retreated. At least 2 Turkish soldiers KIA.

We'll see what Erdogan does next.

Sultan Erdogan 7d-chess in action:

First tweet: Turkish soldiers firing a Stinger at a Russian jet some days ago in Idlib.

Second tweet: Turkish soldiers hunkering down in a building with ongoing Russian airstrikes, many reports of about 30-35 Turkish soldiers killed and 50+ injured. Russia is operating a de-facto no flight zone over northwestern Syria.

I gotta give it to the Gollum though, he is really, really good at alienating his friends!

This is going to heat up considerably. Beware of escalation in Syria right now.

There needs to be a new thread on this or have the title renamed to get more attention, not just related to this conflict but the tensions between Turkey and Russia that could potentially drag Western nations to this mess.

Turks keep pretending that they are only fighting SAA. They went armor and SPG hunting.

Turkey has been conducting heavy aerial bombardment and artillery strikes against Assad troops. Their recordings are all over their social media.

Turkish droning and rebel counter-offensives have resulted in biggest losses for SAA since IS captured Ayaash weapons depot in January of 2016.

Truth to be told though Russia has almost infinite supply of tanks and IFVs that useless to them but more than enough for SAA. I quess problem is finding personel to man those.

In the long term, Turkey has no chance against Russia, Hezbollah, Kurds and SAA. Erdogan and his allies are clearly outnumbered and Russia has the sovereignty over the airspace and there is nothing Turkey can do against it. The Sultan of the Bosporus will suffer a massive strategic defeat. NATO doesn't care, they will not help the Sultan to invade another country. His only hope is to ask USA for help. Too bad HTS (Al Queda) is running the show. FSA is pretty much done, they are defeated.

Assad won this and Erdogan is in denial. Many turkish soldiers will find a meaningless death.

Turkey is going to get sat down.

The US doesn't want to help them. They fucked us last year by doing a uni-lateral surprise invasion.

Constantinople might be a vacation spot in 20 years.

Imagine getting dragged into a major conflict because Turkey was your NATO ally...

According to Turkish aim, they're depleting Assad's military via heavy drone bombardment then they're going to start a large scale operation to aim and take over the North then secure a 30km buffer.

Hezbollah on social media is said to be targeted as well so it looks like Turkey is treating Assad, Hezbollah and everyone that associates with them as legitimate targets. Russia so far has remain silent and inactive.

The war has taught us a thing or two about the Turks.

1) Turks doesn't give a shit about what people think outside and the consequence. They've pushed the US backed YPG back during the Euphrates and Olive branch operation in a short amount of time and US did nothing. Now, they're hammering Russian backed Assad force non-stop and Russia is doing nothing. They use the refugee as a leverage against EU who is doing nothing either. They could close the strait and not give a shit about the consequence.

2) They've opened 4 fronts (Assad and his allies, Kurds within Turkey and outside and Haftar's Libya) simultaneously and are determined as fuck to take these territories themselves so they don't need help.

As for Russia, the main advantage Turkey have is that Syria is their backyard which gives them unlimited logistic support without problems unlike Russia who has to use the sea and airbase from other countries to get through.
