Syria returns Légion d'honneur award to France

Link Source (BBC News) : http://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-43833652

Syria has returned to France the prestigious Légion d'honneur presented to President Bashar al-Assad, saying he would not wear the award of a country that was a "slave" to America.

The move comes days after France said a "disciplinary procedure" for withdrawing the award was under way.

France recently joined the US and Britain in bombing Syrian targets over an alleged chemical weapons attack.

The award was returned to France via the Romanian embassy in Damascus.

President Assad was decorated with the highest class of the award, the grand-croix, in 2001 after he took power following the death of his father.

"The ministry of foreign affairs... has returned to the French republic... the decoration of the grand-croix of the Légion d'honneur awarded to President Assad," the Syrian foreign ministry said in a statement.

"It is no honour for President Assad to wear a decoration attributed by a slave country and follower of the United States that supports terrorists," it added.

About 3,000 people every year are awarded the Légion d'honneur for "services rendered to France" or for defending human rights, press freedom or similar causes.

The US, UK and France bombed several Syrian government sites on Saturday in retaliation for an alleged chemical weapons attack on Douma, the last rebel-held town in the Eastern Ghouta region outside Damascus.

Because unlike you, the US government didnt thought giving Stingers to jihadists was a good idea.

LOL at bombing Russia over fucking Syria, you are a cartoon of a cartoon. I think you are simply a nihilist who wants to bring the apocalypse.

You mean after the US attacks Russia and they tuck tail and run?

Dat coalition of Macron, May, and Trump is very strange.

Macron's neo-liberal self, is once again proof they are no better than neo-cons.

Jihadis wernt releaee by assad til the conflict was 3 months old and only tards think that all those opposing assad are western hating jihadis anyway

Jihadis were there since day one.

And no, not all who opposed Assad were jihadists, but there was a shitload of corruption going on there too, which made it possible for the stingers to be misplaced by the "moderates" AKA sold for thousands of dollars.

Why would we have to bomb russia the conflicts in sryia sport and lol at russia picking a fight it cant win over anything

You are asking for the US to bomb Russian troops

Russia didnt have to attack the us for them to leave nam no?

No, but the US proxys in the area got their shit pushed in by Russia.

The Syrian civil war is over at this point. In a short period of time there'll be just Idlib and the southern [what] front because all the other places are going to get rolled up quick. Of course there's the SDF but they're not trying to unseat Assad - and I imagine they'll be looking for a settlement once Trump pulls out of Syria.

Beside you forget we killed a bunch who were lets be real acting on putins orders and nowt happened

As would happen russias proxies should we decide it should happen

You are still peddling the lie that all jihadi fighting forces were somehow created by Assad?

It was effectively over when the "moderate"" rebels lost Allepo East Ghouta clinched it.

From this point on its moping up operations and letting the rebels fight each other in Idlib.

Daily Beast quoting a random guy with zero evidence vs one of the most comprehensive pieces of journalism from Der Spiegel with evidence about ISIS origins and power structure.

Keep peddling those lies.

Those articles simply point out the obvious, political prisoners went to join rebel groups, jihadists being a big group of said political prisoners going to join ISIS is not proof that ISIS was created by Assad.

ISIS as a military group was created by ex-Saddam's security apparatus with Wahabbi ideological backing.

That was not during the civil war, that was Assad using proxies against Americans in Iraq, something that of course backfired badly in his face when said seasoned veterans came back to Syria.

Your claim that Assad created the jihadist groups in order to get the moderates is dellusion.

Internal support
Despite widespread opposition to his rule, Assad continues to maintain significant levels of support within Syria.

Such support extends beyond his own Alawite community, and also includes members of the Sunni community who have benefited financially during his rule and have little interest in changing the status quo.

What do Syrians think of Bashar al-Assad?

Link Source (Quora) : https://www.quora.com/What-do-Syrians-think-of-Bashar-al-Assad

As someone who has spent a lot of time in Syria before and during the conflict, I have taken many opportunities to ask this question. Let me begin my response by asking you: What do the people of your country think of your Head of State? Does every single one of you have exactly the same opinion? I am guessing -no. It's the same all over the world, including Syria.

The Western media have given the image of Syria as being a black and white, straight down the middle, for or against, simplistic portrayal of the country, it's leader and it's people.

Here is a brief list of all the different opinions I have come across from Syrians about Assad.

Love the man - Adore him (genuinely)

Regard him as an astute politician.

Had great expectation and hope about him when he first came into power, then he lost the goodwill of the people after he came down heavy at the start of the 'Arab Spring'.

Had negative feelings about him before, but now love the guy because of what he is doing against ISIS

Reluctantly like/respect/tolerate the man because he is the only current answer in the fight against ISIS

Believe Assad is not the problem - it's the politicians behind him. This is usually followed with something on the lines of: We need to change the system, not just the man.

Assad is a politician - and all politicians deserved to be disliked. He is no better or worse than Obama, Clinton, etc.

He is not as bad as his father. He made some changes, but not enough.

He is as bad as his father.

He is worse than his father.

Hate and loathing of the man.

A rebel (who the West are supporting) once told me: We will use the Americans to kill Assad and then we will kill the Americans.

A Syrian soldier (who the West are against) once told me "All politicians - bad. All people - Good."

The real world is not simplistic and Muslims/Syrians are not robots programmed to think one thing. They are as complex in their thoughts and opinions as people from your country.

----------------

Btfo and Gtfo. But, please oh please, follow up with your limp dick appeal to *international community organisations, watch dogs and chemical inspector authorities* Who of course fall in line with western thinking and propaganda.

Lol like the UN, NATO or any other western state / inspectors are going to go against the U.S.

Oh and before I get accused of being a Russian sympathizer. I still *love* my country and support my citizens and fellow Service men and women. I'm just not such a fucking intellectual hack to believe the stupidity of my countries political and propaganda machine.
Not a single sentence of this weakass drivel addresses the Douma attack or the history of veracity regarding chemical attack investigation.
