“The right-wing Swiss People’s Party, which is set to win the largest share of the vote in elections later this month, is seeking to collect 100,000 signatures by May to trigger a vote on whether to enshrine “everlasting” neutrality into the constitution. That would allow it to roll back sanctions against Russia that won praise from US President Joe Biden.”

More than 90% of the population still supports neutrality. For the Swiss, an impartial stance is a “national myth of almost religious consecration,” according to Edgar Bonjour

A perpetual Swiss neutrality was enshrined at the Treaty of Paris in 1815, after the defeat of Napoleon. . . A history of political fence-sitting barely survived World War II, when Switzerland violated its own neutrality by granting loans and selling arms to Nazi Germany.”

Switzerland's foreign policy

To paraphrase Michael Jordan: "even (insert political groups) need to conduct international banking"

They’ve remained neutral for 200 years, even during 2 world wars taking place in their backyard, but people think this particular situation, not even taking place in their own continent, calls for them to break that?
Lest they be labeled as zionists.

They don't have to worry about that. They're uninvadable. That's the whole reason they have the freedom to be neutral.
If the "shoot twice and go home" tactic doesn't pan out, they're ready for a war of attrition.
an estimated 20,000 military bunkers and 300,000 private and public fallout shelters still exist

Yes, I noticed that as well and almost included that in my post but just decided to leave it out.

Well.
Switzerland always was like Panama...just more rich...LOL.

While Russia might have some sanctions for example cos suspicious banks possibly involved in money laundering and tax evasion therefore by lifting sanctions from Russia they still ....will see....

I've heard they have the ability to blow up every major road, bridge, rail etc on their borders in the event of an invasion. It's a fascinating country for sure
Against Iranian drones this not likely will help.

Also yeah, they does have difficult for invaders geography and doesn't have resources like oil, natural gas, gold, diamonds mines etc.
So why to waste manpower for such special operation.

While something like Iran might simply she'll them with cheap drones....
