In this case some right wing group took the political issue of the LGBT community hostage, in order to push their own agenda (and probably make a mockery out of the LGBT community at the same time). And justifiably so, the LGBT community did not want that shit.

But of course, that doesn't even address the most stupid part of his post (which you liked), which is he said there was a great "irony" in it. Which of course, if we follow the reasoning you just put forth (me satirizing the word, as opposed to calling someone the word), there isn't.

Language--especially a language lacking a governing body a la the Real Academia or Académie française--is defined by its speakers. He used "irony" in the sense it is commonly used. It wasn't "classical" irony, but in the 21st century, he properly applied it--that is, he used it to point out the contradiction in someone who hates when people use the word "cuck" being a top user of the word "cuck" themselves. A native speaker who isn't a pedant wouldn't take issue with his use of the word "ironic" there because that's one of the ways the word has been used continually for a long time now.

We can use a similar argument to segue into the "cuck" issue. You guys seem to get rustled easily when someone calls you all cucks because some guy isn't literally fucking your wife in front of you. As if words can't be used figuratively, or change/add meanings entirely. Stop being such reactionaries; languages change.

I could make a Facebook page today about some make believe event and invite a bunch of people. When they decline, do I get a bunch of articles written about me? This one incident, when looked at as an isloated case may seem like a non-issue, but there is a far bigger picture at play which is most certainly not something to be downplayed and dismissed. Here in Western Europe, Muslims are a rapidly growing demographic and these people hate gays, and I mean really hate them.

A recent poll showed that over half of British Muslims think that homosexuality should be illegal, now that's not they disaprove of gays or think that they should keep it behind closed doors, which is about as extreme a view you'll find these days from Christians or right-wingers, but that they should be punished by law for their sexuality. I would also imagine the death penalty is the prefered punishment for many of these Muslims.

And it stands to reason as homosexuality is illegal throughout pretty much all of the Muslim world, in many cases punishable by death. Now this isn't some extreme or rare interpretation of Islam, being practiced by a few radical in a handful of Islamic backwaters, but orinary, everyday, mainstream Islam that is practiced in accordance with what their religion clealry dictates.

There has also been a huge rise in homophobic attacks across Europe (along with anti semitic attacks and rapes) and there are no prizes for guessing who the main culprits are.

Meanwhile, liberals/leftists/progressives deny there is any problem, continue to call people racist for even bringing attention to anything like this and are more concerned about what bathrooms people use as the most pressing LGBT issue of the day.

Yes they will come into conflict and it will be entirely dysfunctional, comical, and sad. The current process is not sustainable, but it isn't meant to be.
