a highlight of Swedish judo, great song btw, I like hip hop as mucvh as the next white scared guy but finally a song for us UFC fans

the throw at about 20 seconds when he kinda sits down and gets his legs what is that? any "official name" looks like it would combine two of my favourite things, sliding tackles from football and leg picks!

it looked kind of like a ko soto gake, except he grabbed the leg along with hooking it

looks like a weird variation of a fireman's carry
That's what I thought when I read his description, but didn't look like that at all to me in the vid.

It is called the Laats kata-guruma (named after the Belgian Judo player Johan Laats who 'invented' it) or aka the sit-through/seated kata-guruma.

cool any links to a video or pic by pic walkthru?

Damn! Your getting good at this. I was just gonna' say Kata Guruma.

I'm working on getting this throw because it's so beautiful. I'd say I'm about 10% there.

JudoGido (I wanted to call you spiderman for the avatar but realised he has no wen), What is the difference btwn a Kosoto Gari and Kosoto Gake?

Is Laats kata-guruma more difficult than the basic version?

What are the pros and cons?

The "con" is that it can smash your face to the mat with a force when fighting a resisting opponent. To me this is just another fireman's carry.

Yup that's right.
I've heard it being called Laats' kata guruma, or Laats' yoko otoshi. It's like a hybrid between kata guruma (link) and yoko otoshi (link).
Kinda like a yoko otoshi, where you put him over your shoulders. One of my favorites in Judo. Higher percentage than a regular kata guruma, but it's a sacrifice throw.

In BJJ, you can also get a hands free kneebar from that position once you get the takedown. You can't get enough leverage to always get the tap, but it is there.

Simplistically explained:
Kosoto-gari: Hooking with the sole of your foot
Kosoto-gake: Hooking with your heel

There's more to that, though - body position is a bit more side-on with the kosoto-gari, more front on with the kosoto-gake.

No, I'd say it was easier.

Pro: you can slide under & throw a bent over opponent,
Con: do it wrong and you end up in a pin or slamming opponent head-first into the mat for a penalty (head-diving)

Compare it to the difference between a standing shoulder throw (seoi-nage) and a drop version. One is better to do against a more upright person, the other more suited to them bent forward.
