Supreme court declares Texas abortion law unconstitutional

IT's funny actually, that the rampant racism and Religious Rightism that resides in the GOP constituency is the same thing that is preventing those voters from supporting policies that you know, actually help them....

I mean who really makes up the GOP? rich people, Veterans/Military/LEO, old people, and poor, rural white people (correct me if I'm wrong on that).....

all but Rich People and many would argue even them, would benefit greatly from many of the same policies that the GOP is adamantly against (mainly SW type, needs based programs).....have to respect the gangsta of the Trolling ability of the Leadership on that side. Jim Jones level IMO

As pro military as the GOP claims, they're the ones that continuously railroad bills that benefit veterans.

I come from a VERY small town in Georgia, USA. Now it's not the norm but this does and did happen.

I had classmates that I knew from kindergarten until HS graduation and there was ZERO sex-education. By the time we hit senior year, about half of the females I knew were either pregnant or already had a kid. I learned about sex-ED from an after-school special that I caught on CBS as I was getting ready to go outside an play ball.

*I am not making this up*
For my senior prom, a female in my class took her son as her date. She was a senior and her son as in kindergarten.

Knowledge is power.
Them being pregnant doesn't mean they were ignorant of what happens when 2 people have sex... it means they just didn't care.

This law along with others was bullshit, now the same thing needs to be done in mississippi and alabama where the same draconian laws were passed.

There's no reason to force young lady's who aren't ready for adulthood into motherhood.

Who is forcing these people to procreate? Funny, when a woman "isn't ready for motherhood" just go ahead and flush the fetus down the drain. But when the man "isn't ready for fatherhood" somehow it's tough shit and now he has to pay for the rest of his life.

I don't disagree with you in entirety, but these States are usually the ones with the most minimal sex education. Telling kids Jesus will be disappointed if you fuck only really works to a certain point.

Do people really think they need sex education in school to understand that bumping uglies can create a child? I knew that shit from watching "Look Who's Talking" when I was like 5 or 6. That was back in the 1980's... with the internet and porn I find it almost impossible for kids to not know these kinds of things anymore, especially by the time they are 12.

Are there a lot of babies made in porn? Maybe we're watching different movies.

Notice that I said "internet AND porn." I didn't say "internet porn" for a reason... the internet if full of information.

i know, except for yearly raises (of which they almost always give better then DEM leaders), it's astounding really

Seemed like a pretty clear cut case. What was the dissenting reasoning?

Hasn't it been shown that states with sex ed have lower teen birthrates than abstinence only states

Has it? Post some case studies.

I would assume that's most likely true though... I think most people know that abstinence-only is absurd. I still don't think that abortion should be used as a means of birth control. Sure, there's cases where rape and incest involved I would agree with, but morally I just can't get on board with the idea of abortion as birth control.

Republican tyranny shut down again. These assholes will never give up, it's unreal.

Abortion would still be a form of birth control whether its incest or rape.

I believe cases of incest and rape would fall under the category of "Extenuating Circumstances." I don't think that's very hard to comprehend either.

Well they are driven by the belief that a magic man in the sky has made their cause righteous. That is a good motivation to not give up.

it sounds like your parents dropped the ball. they should have taught you. not an ABC Afterschool special.

Edit: neither did my parents. It should be their job primarily, not the schools.

Ah, I'm not blaming my Mom for anything. She did the best she could.

Trump pretty smart to be quite on this ruling so far. He knows the Christian Right is going to abandon him for being silent and Hillary was waiting to him to say something stupid.

Also, as someone who considered himself "very pro-choice," he may have been pleased.

One for the good guys. But it's alarming that three justices would pretend the undue burden test doesn't exist.
