I'm just curious how many guys that train (I'm more concerned with BJJ but I guess judo or similar arts would apply as well) like to supplement your training with instructional dvds.
I've been thinking about looking into it, because I feel like the 3 BJJ classes per week isn't enough, I wish I could go more often but that's all my school offers.
Has anyone felt like this helped you out? Or did you feel like you basically wasted money after you watched the dvds? Or does it vary depending on the dvds you get?

Depends on the DVD's. Some are better than others. Also some are made for different levels of skill. I'm still real new to the ground game so I try to stick to the more basic ones and not get ahead of myself trying real fancy complicated moves. I use them to get some ideas for escapes and reversals. The dvds help me visualize some of the moves also. Because I can pause it and replay as many times as I want.

I try to be real careful with subs. Since if your getting from a dvd you've never actually used it before and don't want to hurt your partner while trying something out for the first time.
