People realize that this is the son of Kal-El, right?

People have a problem with Superman's son being gay?

Superman's son being bisexual is just another part of the conservative outrage-victim cycle. You can either ignore it completely, ridicule it mercilessly but never ever make the mistake of taking it seriously, that will only fuel yet another outrage-victim cycle.

    Who cares?

He has to be a bottom, and I quote...."he blows a load like a shotgun...{sic}...only Wonder Woman would be able to take that force."

i think people have a problem with this shtick being used over and over again as a political gesture, just jam it in there for woke points. it's empty pandering and virtue signaling, meaningless in the context. people have just been conditioned to viralise any shit like this, one way or the other so that now it has just become a marketing tool.

    let's make superman black/gay/trans/a woman/etc.
surely there will be angry conservatives and cheering liberals that will engage in vigorous back and forth so that our mediocre comic will be sold as a political artifact and not an art creation, which we no longer know how to do.

it's just hiding mediocrity behind a veneer of social justice.

That's my point, it isn't Kal-El, it's his son. Why does his being gay have to be a schtick? Why can't he just be gay?

I haven't read comics in a very long time but they've been desperate for new hooks for longer than I'm been alive, you wouldn't believe the shit they've done over the years.

Like that time in 1970 Lois Lane need to KNOW what it felt like being black.

he can be gay for the right reasons, like being gay.
but most likely he's gay for the reasons I have already explained.
    gayness is irrelevant.

CGers and online grifters using the "Jon Kent Superman Becoming Bi" reveal to push their "Wokeness Has Killed Comic Book Sales" narrative. Except there are other bigger reasons why American comics sales are dropping:

    1. Increased comic prices.

    2. Overuse of gimmicks like events, retcons and reboots.

    3. Reboots and retcons make it hard to serve as introduction for new readers.

    4. A huge number of comic fans are more into superheroes when it comes to floppies than other genres Wokeness is the least of the US comic industry's problems.

Also while floppies are having sales issues, graphic novels and trades are still seeing really healthy sales. And some of those graphic novels have been accused of being "woke" as well.

Is "wokeness" a part of it? Maybe. But, it's not even close to being the main reason behind comic sales devline and not every book is affected by "wokeness" either.

As usual, certain people use the fact Manga is outselling Comics in order to push the narrative that Manga is "never political nor tackle themes".

That narrative isn't accurate as there are manga that do tackle themes and there are other bigger reasons Manga outsell US Comics.

    1. Cheaper (an entire Manga volume is cheaper and yet has more content than 2 comic trades)

    2. Its fanbase are more accepting of variety than many US comic fans

    3. It's a lot easier for readers to get into Manga as most manga doesn't suffer through retcons or reboots.

Plus the fact unlike most US comics, most manga tend to be written with an ending in mind. A manga series having more than one installment or reboot is rare.

Manga has tackled themes like politics and bigotry or "identity politics"

Hell, Japan in general has been unsubtle when tackling topics like bigotry and "identity politics" in their young audience targeted media including superhero media.

Just recently a superhero series in Japan called High School Heroes acknowledged one of the show's heroes as a trans woman.

In case you didn't know, PC culture doesn't stand for progressiveness, it's its own thing by now and making Superman whatever this is is definitely PC and not progressive.

Superman has always been Superman, not PC. He's always stood for what's right while keeping his self. He's not a person who has to be gay to fight for those groups of people. Try to understand heroes by reading about them instead of looking up random comic writers' political beliefs son.

    <{ohyeah}>

Anyways imo, One should ask - Are they even making comic books for the fans at this point?

I'm not into marvel or DC, but I think I would be somewhat upset if my favorite character after decades of fighting menacing villains and investing in a relationship with lois lane is suddenly bi-sexual and taking in the chops from a green-haired soy boy journalist

If you want that you might as well move to a country more in line with the way you want to believe, no way the West is going to be anything like that again.

What are the “right reasons” for a fictional comic book character to be bi? Fictional characters aren’t inherently attracted to one gender or another, so “like being gay” isn’t a reason. it’s always a creative choice by the writers.
