I have made maybe 10 threads in my time here at the Sherdogs. One of those threads covered this subject many years ago. I spent about 10 minutes trying to dial it up. I promise. Coouldn't find it.

Supergroups are those bands that consist of musicians that don't typically perform or record with one another. Some of them are our wettest dreams come true, some of them are...well...not. A couple of the best I found over the years were:

Oysterhead was an alternative rocksupergroup featuring bassist Les Claypool of Primus, guitarist Trey Anastasio of Phish and drummer Stewart Copeland of The Police.

and

The Traveling Wilburys (sometimes shortened to the Wilburys) were a British-American supergroup consisting of Bob Dylan,George Harrison, Jeff Lynne, Roy Orbison, and Tom Petty.

Another was the lesser known

Class of '99
was a short-term alternative rock supergroup consisting of members from notable rock bands: Layne Staley of Alice in Chains as the vocalist, Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine as lead guitarist, Stephen Perkins of Jane's Addiction as the drummer, and Martyn LeNoble of Porno for Pyros as bass guitarist. They also had the help of Matt Serletic on keyboards.

There are many, many more. Some of these bands are responsible for some of the greatest singles, albums and tours in the history of the music business.

Let's celebrate the good and the bad here, eh?

decided to not go with the obvious choice

There was a reality show called Supergroup that aired about 10 years ago on VH1 the music was so so, but the show itself was awesome as they all live in the same house and have 8 weeks to record an album. The line up included...

1. Sebastian Bach (Skid Row)
2. Ted Nugent
3. Scott Ian (Antrax)
4. Jason Bonham (Foreigner and John Bonham's son)
5. Evan Seinfeld (Biohazard)

I looked and saw the first episode on Youtube. It makes for a good binge watch if you have a lazy afternoon to burn.

will do. Nice contribution.

Fugazi was technically a super group, it the lead singer of minor threat, the lead singer/guitarist from rites of spring, and the drummer from rites of spring.

Atoms for Peace

Does Cream count as a super group?

They preformed together from the beginning and made a name for themselves while together, so I don't think they count... I was going to say yardbirds, but I dont think they qualify either.

Killer Be Killed of recent times, what a great album that was, and I managed to see them live down here too, great show.

Public Enemy’s Chuck D, Cypress Hill’s B-Real and Rage Against the Machine – minus singer Zack de la Rocha – have reportedly come together as a new band called Prophets of Rage.

not sure how I feel about this performance.
