as per the folks of /r/mma

BEWARE ZUFFA SHILLS ARE EVERYWHERE IN THIS THREAD. IF IT WASN'T SUBLIMINAL THEY WOULD GIVE INFORMATION ON WHERE TO BUY TICKETS/PPV FROM AND IT WOULDNT BE FOR FRACTIONS OF A SECOND. STAY FROSTY FOLKS. ZUFFA LLC MARKETING DEPARTMENT IS SLOPPY YET DETERMINED.

This is a new low for the UFC.

and people say the UFC isn't dying? Anything to try to sell more PPV's.

Here's the video, it comes towards the end...You clearly see it but it's pretty fast, I can see how somebody not looking for it, wouldn't realize it said buy.

its literally not even difficult to catch. having done a project on subliminal messaging in HS and produced a video that had it frankly I think the UFC's production team is absolute amateurs. Even mine wasnt as blatant as that and all I had was a copy of vegas and footage of friends fooling around

I just want to point out that the BUY image is the transition onto this screen, which happens to have the date of the PPV as well as the obligatory "LIVE ON PAY PER VIEW" message. So, instead of this being subliminal messages, I think it's just a screen telling you to buy it on PPV. Shocking, right?

If they were going to do subliminal messages it would have been more subtle because the fact that it's clearly visible and can be processed kinda pulls it away from subliminal messaging. It was in multiple frames in multiple positions, all in a color that contrasts against the background in a way that makes it stand out so your eyes are drawn to it and you see it. Subliminal messages are supposed to be flashed quickly and in such a way that you can't process them. This doesn't fall under that category. It's just a buy message transitioning into the screen that shows you the date of the PPV.

Whatever it takes to find something new to complain about though, I guess.

Can't play the video right now. Is it that "quickly flashed word so only your subconscious can catch it" stuff?

I remember reading somewhere that this kind of "subliminal message" has no effect whatsoever. Is it true or false? Could you elaborate?

Not at all. It's flashed on the screen for almost a full second and isn't even close to being hard to catch. It's white text on a black background, larger than the rest of the text on the screen. This isn't subliminal messaging, they WANT you to see the "BUY" text because they want you to buy the PPV.

Now walking to Vegas to give Dana all of my money. It seems like the right thing. He needs it more than I do.

    Yes its that.

It works, but its not a surefire way to make somebody follow your orders. It's believed that drive ins made a killing at the concession stand in the 60's when subliminal messaging first became popular.
