STX Kickboxing vs Muay Thai , Which One?

I've been lifting for about 3 months now trying to get my body ready for martial arts classes . In my local area there is a Muay Thai academy and STX Boxing Gym . Which one do I choose ? Which one would be a better choice for self defense ? I'd appreciate some opinions

Looks like a savate/ thai boxing hybrid, developed by Shooto champ Erick Paulson. Guy had a respectable mma career, it might be worth looking into. Who knows, the thai gym could be a mcdojo outfit. It sure couldn't hurt to try both and see which you like better.

Huh, I always knew Paulson as the grappling wiz who trains in a bunch of different styles of grappling. I guess striking had his attention too at some point.
