Holm was doing it right. She was picking Tate apart and still looked fresh after rd 1. She stuffed some takedowns. Props to Tate's tenacity you know she was getting tired and discouraged by getting tagged.

But Holm's ground game is CRAP. She scrambled to half guard, with good instincts but she was completely lost there. She should have scooted to the side, blocked Tate's right bicep (so Tate couldnt punch w the right hand) and underhooked Tate's left arm. She just laid flat and got grabbed on wasting energy. That is why she was more tired before Rd 3.

These skills are the shit low-mid level blue belts should know.

Holm is a great fighter, but the jiu jitsu aspect of her game is pure crap!

This sounds like reverse Honda bizzaro world

In any case, when you have a big hole in your game sometimes tough aint enough. (And boy, holly is tough, she dont know wtf quit means)

We knew it would be weak going in. The Tate and Rousey fights were always "Holm wins easy on the feet, but can she prevent being taken down and survive if it happens". I dont think Holm vs Tate/Rousey is ever a 100% win on anyones side. It will be a diceroll of all those situations.

I was surprised at just how bad it was though. Some real amateur errors in there.

You watching the same fucking fight as the rest of us?

I should watch again before posting this, but she should've gotten out of that last scramble like nothing.

Seemed like she just dozed off, walking towards the fence.

Holly was definitely intimidated by the take down / submission threat big time.

I expected more after how easily she defended the Rousey armbar. That said it's one thing drilling the technique for a single sub's defense for months. It's another thing entirely to prepare for the top control and scrambling on the level of Tate and it showed tonight.

Seriously I agree that took some heart to not tap. More that we can say for ole' mistar McG hehe.

Holly's a boxer and she probably drilled her takedown/clinch defense a lot for the Ronda fight. It's not that surprising her BJJ is bad.

Lets face it,MCG knew if he got slept, the shoops would be too strong hahah

The dude is a warrior. He puts a hurtin on people but man he gave in quick. I can't read minds but it looked like he wanted a way out.

I have to give massive credit to tate for sticking onto that choke through that role. I did not expect it.

He may have blew his wad, hitting nate with the kitchen sink...and then when he was hurt, didnt know what to do. Was his first time in that situation...Weve seen GSP go through some shit and come back stronger...so anythings possible

I thought her stand up skills were mediocre at best. No combinations, passive occasional 1-2s. A great female is striker is Joannna not Holly.

He is too muscular at this weight. He got tired and was not used to that. Better stamina with less muscles and less weight. Also Swinging your hardest and missing is no good for stamina either.

Holm was in that choke like:

When she threw she looked real good to me,but she doesnt have Joanna's confidence in dealing with the threat of takedowns.

Why? Everyone knew she didn't have any. She relies entirely on her boxing and TDD.

The same thing might happen to Joanna, eventually.
