I've been studying since i was 16, almost 11 years. My Jun Fan JKD instructors go as follows...Excuse me? And what are your credentials in JKD?
What I was saying was that when i fight MT I fight weak side forward. I no longer teach JKD due to timing issues, but when i was teaching, I would teach strong side forward. But I do not carry this forward with MT. Nontheless, not advocating SSF would make me no less certified than if I did.
Besides, not every JKD instructor trains strong side forward.
Dan Inosanto - Inosanto Academy
Yori Nakamura - Inosanto Academy
Ted Wong - Chinatown School
Jerry Poteet - Privately at his home in the Valley.
Eric Paulson - occasionally when i can get to his school in OC.
Dan Sullivan - OC Kickboxing in Costa Mesa
And although some practice both right and left leads, they ALL advocate "strong side forward". ALL OF THEM. why? Because that is the crux of Bruce Lee's Jun Fan JKD. Bruce taught all his students "strong side forward" because he wanted the most powerful tools in front because they start closer to the target. 90% of Jun Fan JKD is attacking with the lead hand and lead foot. So practicing JKD in a "weak side forward" stance goes completely against Bruce's philosophy and the way he taught his students. Ted Wong and Jerry Poteet ONLY teach "strong side forward" because that's how Bruce Lee taught them.
And your credentials?
