Stripping Conor was one of Dana's smartest decisions

Keeping the title and not fighting is good only for McGregor because he can still get lucrative sponsorships while doing nothing. However, without fighting, he is useless to the UFC.
Stripping him from the title is the only way to motivate him to get back to fighting and earning money for the UFC.

Dana, you smartass, you genius.

has anyone else been stripped twice?

Only took like 16 months to officially do it.

Same concept GSP used to please his sponsors. Came back to the UFC to get a fresh belt.

He isn't stripped until I see the Baldfather rip that thing off of his waist, and that isn't going to happen.
"Stripping the title" in the UFC means nothing other than a small edit on their website. Next month Dana will deny ever taking the belt away from him, and he'll demote Khabibs' to interim title instead.

Dana can't even keep his BFFs Chuck and Hughes employed any more, he's just a more outgoing Scott Coker, Ari and Patrick's lapdog behind the scenes. He doesn't get to make any important decisions, let alone stripping the one person UFC needs the most. With the Fertittas you're talking friends, but with Ari it's strictly business. Ari tells him to say XYZ and Dana says X motherfucker Y shit Z fuck, that's it.

I'll believe it when I see it. I could still see happening where Dana says "oh, we just got a deal done with conor for him to fight the winner so he keeps his belt"

He should've done that a year ago.

No, that would have been too early. The best time to have done it would have been in the late fall or early winter of 2017 if McGregor refused to get nailed down to scheduling a defense.

The damage has been done.

yeah because what the sport needs is more paper champions

A decision he was seemingly putting off until the contenders couldn't fight because old age

lack of policy is hurting. stripping him with a lack of policy today feels just as willy-nilly as not stripping him did with a lack of policy 6 months ago.

welcome to 'entertainment fighting'. in that order.
