It is 2018 and still MMA has not evolved much. One of the biggest fights that can be made in this day in age is still a " Stiker vs Grappler " match. Two specialists in Conor the Striker and Khabib the Grappler.

Yeah evolution doesn't occur over the span of 5 years.. or even 10 for that matter.

Basketball was nearly the same in the late 50s, 60s and 70s. Didn't really start to change much till the 80s and 90s, and now it is changing once again.

You won't see any 'real' improvements till about 2025-2030, if the sport is still around at the time.

Not really. This ain't Art vs Royce.

It almost always spells dullness for us.

That fight, look, I found it kinda dull. I cant see anyone, ever, watching it again.

Be honest, unless you need to do some research on future picks, there isn't much to rewatch in this fight....or any of khabibs fights.

Last night proved that Khabib is not just a grappler.

Brb world class jab
Brb iron jaw, not afraid to leave it hanging out there as bait
Brb assortment of kicks
Brb brb
lol world class jab okay fucking al was just standing there staring at him

he did good with his jab yes but its as is he was just trying it since his opponent wasnt doing shit so maybe he will continue using it and turn out to be great at it sure, but to say right now he has a world class jab common. he looks sloppy as hell and seems like its a matter of time before he gets knocked out. maybe it will never happen, his style works for him. all im saying is he seriously doesnt look as good as he is.

Style contrasts make sports interesting. Many sports (tennis, pro football, etc.) started getting boring around the 1990s when everything got perfected to a science and there wasn't much difference between competitors any more.

It’s actually reverted. GSP, Penn, Fedor, Silva and the generation starting around 2000 were the truly well rounded fighters.

You will always have fighters with specialities.

Just like Tiger Woods was known for his driver and putter.

Micheal Jordan is known for his scoring.

Drew Brees is known for his accuracy.

Among elite athletes there are always strengths and weaknesses and MMA will never be any different. Have Conor grapple an amature and he will wreck them, have Khabib strike with an amature and he will wreck them. Just because they specialize doesn't mean they are incompetent.

Come on, Khabib is more than just a grappler and Conor is more than just a striker

They're just legit world class in their respective disciplines so don't venture too far outside of them

exactly, they are specialists. like many of the other specialists that have ever fought in MMA.
